Be aware of fake tax e-mails

HM Revenue and CustomsGreat Britain's Revenue and Customs warned, that up to 6 million United Kingdom residents have paid not enough tax.

Residents are reminded to be very careful due to the rise in phishing e-mails throughout the country. Scammers send you e-mail with information that you have not paid enough tax. And there is exploit in this e-mail, which can steal your banking passwords, etc.

What is Phishing?

Communications purporting to be from popular social web sites, auction sites, online payment processors or IT administrators are commonly used to lure the unsuspecting public

Warrington and Halton Trading Standards have emphasised that HMRC inform those people by post only, not via e-mail.

If anyone receives an e-mail claiming to be from HMRC, they should forward it to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and not respond to it!
