Polizia Penitenziaria (Polizia Di Stato) scam - how to remove this ransomware from your computer?
Polizia Penitenziaria ransomware infection is targeted at computer users from Italy. This screen locker originates from a family of ransomware called Reveton. This family of rogues is infamous for it's capabilities to localise deceptive messages that locks computer user's desktop. When infected with this scam computer users can't access their desktop or any of the installed programs, the only visible element is the fake message which states that computer users have violated copyright and other laws and thus has to pay a fine of 100 euro to unlock their computers. This is a scam, if your PC is locked with such message you shouldn't pay the fine - you will loose your money and your PC will remain infected.
The name of Polizia Penitenziaria is exploited by Cyber criminals with a purpose of further scaring PC users into believing that they have done something wrong and forcing them into paying a fake fine. Ransomware infections have become very popular among Cyber criminals and they continue to develop new infections and translate them to different languages. Notice that such message will be visible for computer users who lives in Italy, this infection has been localised, so different languages, authority names and graphics is used to infiltrate user computers from different countries.

Don't trust this message. Polizia Penitenziaria didn't lock your computer, this was done by Cyber criminals who are hoping that you will fall for this scam and you will pay the fake fine of 100 euro. To avoid being caught by real authorities Cyber criminals are using Ukash and paysafecard services for collecting money for the fake fines. Such money transfers using pre-paid cards are complicated to trace. Notice that recently discovered ransomware infections are exploiting the names of Polizia Penitenziaria and Polizia Di Stato. La multa è 100 euro. Il pagamento deve essere fatto durante 48 ore dopo lo svelamento della trasgressione. Se la multa non verrà pagata, automaticamente ci si fa la causa penale per lei.

Step 1
During your computer starting process press F8 key on your keyboard multiple times until Windows Advanced Options menu shows up, then select Safe mode with networking from the list and press ENTER.

Step 2
Log in to the account that is infected with Polizia Penitenziaria scam. Start your Internet browser and download a legitimate anti-spyware program. Update the anti-spyware software and start a full system scan. Remove all the entries that it detects.

If you can't start your computer in safe mode with networking (or with command prompt) you should boot your computer using a rescue disk. Some variants of ransomware disables safe mode making it's removal more complicated. For this step you will need access to another computer. Open Internet explorer, click Tools and select Internet Options. Select Connections, then click LAN settings, if a Use a proxy server for your LAN is checked, un-check it and press OK.
After this procedure you should be able to access Internet. Now you can download anti-spyware software from our "Top spyware removers" section and run a full scan. Download, install and don't forget to update your selected anti-spyware program.
