Websteroids virus removal instructions
Websteroids is a potentially unwanted application developed by Creative Island Media LLC. This browser add-on allows users to play a game of Asteroids when browsing the Internet; however, it installs without user's consent and causes various intrusive ads. Most commonly computer users install this plugin with free software downloaded from the Internet. Developers of this browser extension are using a deceptive software marketing method called bundling. After successful installation Websteroids tracks user's Internet browsing by recording IP address, unique identifier number, operating system, browser, and other software information, web page URLs visited, and search queries entered. Moreover, this adware generates banner, in-text, interstitial advertisements.
Having this plugin installed on one's Internet browsers (Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox) can end up in high risk malware infections and privacy issues. Internet users should know that nowadays most of free software download websites are using download clients to monetize their free services - download clients are small programs that offer installation of advertised browser plugins, and thus reckless freeware downloading can easily end up in installation of Websteroids or other potentially unwanted applications. It's recommended to remove this adware from one's Internet browsers.
Websteroids is similar to other adware which infiltrate user's Internet browsers through free software downloads, for example Spy Alert, Search Donkey and Spy Guard. All of the mentioned browser plug-ins promises to enhance user's Internet browsing however instead of that users are presented with intrusive ads. To avoid installation of such potentially unwanted applications, computer users should be very careful when downloading and installing free software. When downloading freeware always inspect every downloading step and be sure to opt-put installation of advertised browser extensions by clicking on a "decline" button. When installing the already downloaded program choose "advanced" or "custom" installation options (instead of "typical" or "quick"), this step could reveal installation of bundled browser plug-ins. If you already see ads generated by Websteroids, use the provided removal instructions and eliminate this adware from your computer.
