Also Known As: UniDeals adware
Type: Adware
Damage level: Medium

What is UniDeals?

The UniDeals potentially unwanted application installs on Internet browsers (Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox) when users download or install free software.

Developers of this adware employ a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling', and therefore, most users install the UniDeals plug-in inadvertently without their consent. After successful infiltration, this add-on generates intrusive online ads (usually marked as 'Ads by UniDeals') when browsing the Internet.

Furthermore, this plug-in tracks users' Internet browsing activity by recording web pages visited and activity on those pages (impressions, clicks, and search terms). In some cases, information collated by UniDeals and other services may be personally identifiable and used or shared by third parties (including information regarding pages of social media websites visited).

Although this browser plug-in claims to enhance Internet browsing by saving time and money while shopping online, it is a potentially unwanted program (PUP) that generates intrusive ads and diminishes browser performance.

The presence of UniDeals on your system may cause serious privacy issues and lead to high-risk malware infections. For these reasons, you are advised to eliminate this adware from your Internet browsers.

The UniDeals plug-in is similar to other adware that infiltrates browsers via freeware downloads and causes unwanted ads. Examples include UniSales, SmartShopper, Presto Savings, and Shoppi. Today, most freeware download websites employ deceptive 'download clients' offering installation of advertised browser plug-ins together with the chosen free program.

Thus, reckless freeware download can result in adware infections. When downloading free software, decline installation of any advertised browser plug-ins.

When installing downloaded programs, choose the 'Advanced' or 'Custom' installation options, rather than 'Quick' or 'Typical' - this will reveal any bundled browser plug-ins listed for installation and enable you to decline them.

Computer users who observe UniDeals ads and deals when surfing the Internet, should use this removal guide to eliminate potentially unwanted applications from their Internet browsers.
