Gotmydatafast Ransomware

What kind of malware is Gotmydatafast?

During our assessment of the malware, it was found that Gotmydatafast operates as ransomware. Upon infiltrating the operating system, Gotmydatafast encrypts and renames files and provides two ransom notes ("info.hta" and "info.txt"). This ransomware is part of the Phobos family and was discovered during an examination of samples uploaded to VirusTotal.

Gotmydatafast append the victim's ID, gotmydatafast@skiff.com email address, and ".gotmydatafast" extension to filenames. For instance, it renames "1.jpg" to "1.jpg.id[9ECFA84E-3533].[gotmydatafast@skiff.com].gotmydatafast", "2.png" to "2.png.id[9ECFA84E-3533].[gotmydatafast@skiff.com].gotmydatafast", etc.

SNet Ransomware

What kind of malware is SNet?

Our researchers found the SNet ransomware during a routine inspection of new malware submissions to the VirusTotal platform. Malicious programs that are classed as ransomware operate by encrypting data in order to demand ransoms for its decryption.

After we executed a sample of SNet on our testing system, it encrypted files and added the ".SNet" extension to their filenames. For example, a file originally titled "1.jpg" appeared as "1.jpg.SNet", "2.png" as "2.png.SNet", and so forth for all of the locked files. Once this process was finished, a ransom note named "DecryptNote.txt" was created.
