Uspetenti[.]top redirect removal instructions
What is the uspetenti[.]top site?
Uspetenti[.]top is a rogue website designed to present visitors with dubious content and/or redirect them to other untrustworthy/malicious pages. There are thousands of such sites on the Web; settings-chrome.com, newsfeedscroller.com, thehypenewz.com - are just a few examples. Users rarely access websites of this type intentionally; most get redirected to them by intrusive ads or installed PUAs (Potentially Unwanted Applications). This software does not require explicit user consent to infiltrate systems. PUAs are designed to cause redirects, deliver intrusive advertisement campaigns, and collect browsing-related information.
When accessed, the first thing uspetenti[.]top does is check visitors' IP (Internet Protocol) addresses - in order to learn their geolocations. This information is key to determining the webpage's further course of action. In other words, whether visitors get redirected elsewhere and/or are presented with questionable material - depends on their geolocations. Furthermore, most rogue sites attempt to trick visitors into enabling their browser notifications. This applies to uspetenti[.]top as well; it implies that the notifications must be allowed to enter the page. Should they be enabled, the website will begin running intrusive advertisement campaigns. The delivered ads are more than a nuisance, they pose a threat to device/user safety as well. Once clicked on, intrusive adverts redirect to various unreliable/malicious sites and some can stealthily download/install software (e.g., PUAs).
PUAs often have heinous functionalities, and these functions can be in varied combinations. For example, PUAs can force-open dangerous websites and/or run intrusive advert campaigns. What is more, most unwanted applications (regardless of type/abilities) can track data. They can record browsing activity (URLs visited, pages viewed, search queries typed, etc.) and gather personal information extracted from it (IP addresses, geolocations, and even personally identifiable details). In summary, PUAs can lead to system infections, financial losses, severe privacy issues, and even identity theft. To ensure device integrity and user privacy, all suspect applications and browser extensions/plug-ins must be removed immediately upon detection.

PUAs appear legitimate and harmless. Users are enticed into download/installation and/or purchase with offers of various of "useful" features. However, these functionalities are seldom operational, and in most cases they do not work at all. Functionality and user safety are irrelevant, since the only purpose of unwanted software is to generate revenue for the developers. Therefore, instead of delivering on any promises, PUAs can cause redirects, run intrusive advertisement campaigns, and collect private data.
How did adware install on my computer?
PUAs can be downloaded/installed together with other programs. This deceptive marketing technique of pre-packing ordinary software with unwanted or malicious additions - is called "bundling". By rushing through download/installation processes (e.g., by ignoring terms, skipping steps, etc.) - users risk inadvertently allowing bundled content into their devices. Intrusive advertisements proliferate PUAs as well. Upon being clicked, they can execute scripts to download/install these applications without user consent. Select PUAs have "official" download webpages.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
It is important to research software prior to download/installation and/or purchase. In addition, all downloads should be done only from official and verified sources. Untrustworthy download channels, e.g., unofficial and free file-hosting websites, Peer-to-Peer sharing networks, and other third party downloaders - commonly offer harmful and/or bundled content. When downloading/installing, it is recommended to read terms, study all available options, use the "Custom" or "Advanced" settings and opt-out from additional apps, tools, features, etc. Intrusive adverts appear legitimate; however, they redirect to highly questionable sites (e.g., gambling, adult-dating, pornography, and so forth). In case of encounters with such ads and/or redirects, the system must be inspected and all suspicious applications and browser extensions/plug-ins detected - immediately removed from it. If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Malwarebytes for Windows to automatically eliminate them.
