Search.hlivetvnow.co Redirect

What is search.hlivetvnow.co?
search.hlivetvnow.co is a fake search engine installed using the Live TV Now browser hijacker app. The app offers a search engine and quick access to various television content via tv-related websites such as ESPN GO, Hulu, and Netflix.
The search engine also offers quick access to amazon.com, gmail.com, yahoo.com, and displays the local weather and time. Live TV Now targets these web browsers: Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari, and Microsoft Edge. Depending on your web browser, it can be installed as an extension, add-on, or a program in Windows.
It is very similar to other search engines such as Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc., however, once installed, it takes control over the browser and modifies its settings. Your default search engine then becomes search.hlivetvnow.co and this URL is also applied to the homepage and new tab settings.
Furthermore, when you browse the web using this search engine, it collects browsing-related data such as IP addresses, search terms, queries, and more. Results delivered by this search engine are those displayed on search.yahoo.com (a legitimate Yahoo search engine).
As with many browser hijackers, it is very likely that you will be redirected to various unwanted websites or receive misleading results. Most browser hijackers generate revenue for their developers in this way. It is also possible that recorded information will reach third parties (potentially, cyber criminals), thus causing privacy issues or even identify theft.

Many browser hijackers available on the Internet claim to be legitimate, however, they will generally cause more problems than deliver any perceived benefit from the dubious tools or 'improved' search results.
There are many browser hijackers such as this. Even if they seem different, their main purpose remains identical: to generate revenue. Two examples of other fake search engines similar to search.hlivetvnow.co are filecheckerapp.com and hp.myway.com
How did Live TV Now install on my computer?
It is possible that you downloaded it directly from the livetvnow.co website, however, there are other, more stealthy ways to install this software. Developers use a deceptive marketing method called "bundling" - this is a common way for unwanted programs to be installed.
Browser hijackers are often installed with other regular software that you might have downloaded from the Internet. These bundled apps are usually hidden in "Custom"/"Advanced" (or similar) settings and selected to install by default.
It is very convenient for developers to hide these apps in this way, since most users tend to skip installation steps by clicking the "Next" (or similar) button without checking what they are agreeing to install. Intrusive ads are also a popular way to hijack web browsers - these redirect you to malicious websites and execute scripts that stealthily download and install software.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
Do not download software from unofficial websites and avoid using third party software downloaders. Do not jump installations steps without checking all available options and settings such as "Custom" and/or "Advanced". Do not miss any checkboxes that are ticked by default.
Avoid visiting untrustworthy websites and clicking ads or "Download" buttons on them. Avoid installing software that you downloaded using torrent clients. Use the latest browser, keep it updated, and do not turn off antivirus software (especially if it notifies you that you cannot access a website without first turning it off).
If your computer is already infected with Live TV Now, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate this browser hijacker.
