Stopping redirects to/from mp3downloade.com

Also Known As: mp3downloade.com pop-up
Damage level: Medium

What is mp3downloade[.]com?

Mp3downloade[.]com is a rogue site, similar to loteron.comorboreshitert.infocheck-out-this.site and others. Like many of its kin, this site is designed to cause redirects to unreliable/malicious websites and to display a variety of hazardous content. Most visitors to mp3downloade[.]com enter it unwillingly.

By being redirected from a compromised site (specifically, through intrusive advertisements within) or by having it forcefully opened by PUAs (potentially unwanted applications) present in their systems. It should be noted that applications of this sort do not require express user permission to be installed onto their device.

Aside from causing redirects, these apps can also deliver invasive ad campaigns and even track data.

mp3downloade[.]com pop-up redirects

Promotion of mp3downloade[.]com through intrusive advertisements occurs when users click on the ads and get redirected to said website. Its spread through PUAs works by the apps autonomously opening new browser tabs/windows and redirecting users to said rogue site.

Once accessed, mp3downloade[.]com checks visitor IP (Internet Protocol) addresses, in order to learn their geolocation. This information is key to determining the site's next course of action, which includes further redirection and/or delivery of highly suspect content for user consumption.

However, regardless of mp3downloade[.]com exact activity, visitors to it are certain to encounter damaging content. By employing browser notifications, this rogue website deliver invasive ad campaigns (banners, pop-ups, coupons and etc.).

Intrusive advertisements can cause redirects to both untrustworthy and malicious websites, as well as execute scripts to make unauthorized downloads/installs of unwanted applications. PUAs themselves, additionally to generating redirects, also deliver invasive ad campaigns and can even track data.

By employing a wide array of tools, they enable third party graphical content; consequently presenting advertisements that can slow browsing speed and hinder site visibility (by overlaying content). PUAs gather information, including browsing and search engine history, from which it easily infers users' IP addresses and other personal data.

It must be stressed that this info is passed onto third parties, seeking to misuse it in order to create profit for themselves.

Therefore, unwanted applications endanger system security (putting it at risk of possible infections) as well as user privacy and identity (the latter can even culminate in identity theft). Due to these reasons, all PUAs must be eliminated immediately upon detection.

PUAs share many similarities between them. Almost all offer some sort of "useful" features and make (often successful) attempts at appearing legitimate. However, all these promises are false. The only goal of such undesired applications is to generate revenue for their designers.

PUAs cause unauthorized redirects to hazardous websites, deliver similarly harmful advert campaigns and gather intel on users' browsing activity.

How did adware install on my computer?

Potentially unwanted applications mostly proliferate through intrusive advertisements and a deceitful marketing method termed "bundling". By clicking on malignant ads, users enable them to execute scripts and independently download/install such undesirable applications.

When downloading "bundled" software, inattentive users fail to note the presence of unwanted apps installing themselves along with intended programs. While an opt-out from installing these heinous applications is often possible, such options are frequently difficult to notice.

Hidden behind various terms and "Custom/Advanced" settings - PUAs can slip in during the installation process. Reckless attitude towards browsing and software downloading/installation can result in unwanted applications invading one's device.

How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?

It is strongly advised that users only use official and verified sources for all their downloads (preferably, via direct download links). As opposed to third party downloaders, who are more likely to pack PUAs along with regular programs.

Carefully analyzing each installation step and terms, using the "Custom/Advanced" settings and opting-out/declining any additional applications/features/downloads - greatly improves device and user safety. Being cautious and attentive when browsing also minimizes the risk of potential infections and helps protect users' data integrity.

It should be mentioned that intrusive advertisements are often designed to appear utterly ordinary, to easily trick users into clicking them. However a telltale sign can be the suspicious websites they redirect to - for example, pornography, adult-dating, gambling and similar.

Having encountered such ads/redirects, users are advised to act without delay - inspect their systems and remove any dubious applications or browser extensions/plug-ins. If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.

How to avoid browser notification spam?

Internet users should be very skeptical when being asked to allow notifications. While this is a useful feature that allows you to receive timely news from websites you like, deceptive marketers frequently abuse it.

Only allow notifications from websites that you fully trust. For added security - use an anti-malware application with a real-time web browsing monitor to block shady websites that tries to trick you into allowing spam notifications. We recommend using Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows.
