How to remove redirects to bestevervideoplayers[.]info from Mac?

What is bestevervideoplayers[.]info?

Bestevervideoplayers[.]info is a deceptive/scam webpage. Visitors to this site are informed that their Flash Player may be outdated and are offered fake updates. Users should note, that illegitimate software updaters are often used to spread a variety of untrustworthy content, e.g. adware, browser hijackers and other PUAs (Potentially Unwanted Applications). Fake updaters are also deemed to be high-risk, as they can infect systems with malware (e.g. trojans, ransomware, etc.). Few visitors to deceptive pages enter them intentionally, typically they get redirected by intrusive adverts or by PUAs, already installed onto their device.

bestevervideoplayers[.]info scam

Once accessed, bestevervideoplayers[.]info displays several pop-up windows. The initially presented one is swiftly overlaid with another. The aforementioned pop-up, urges visitors to "install the latest Flash Player for better performances". It elaborates that Flash in an essential browser plug-in that enables users to view/interact with a variety of online media (e.g. audio, video, animation, games, etc.). Supposedly, the version of Flash Player on the visitors' systems might be lacking the newest security updates and may have been blocked. Therefore, an update must be downloaded to continue using this plug-in. The second pop-up repeats the same message, the text presented in it - is identical to part of text in the background window. Both of the pop-ups have appropriate buttons, which initiate the download of the fraudulent updates. When any of them are clicked - bestevervideoplayers[.]info also provides the installation instructions. As mentioned in the introduction, third party updaters are considered to be highly untrustworthy and are expressly advised against download/installation. Instead of updating the promised software, they can infiltrate unwanted content into systems and/or infect them with malware. Therefore, it is recommended to always update products with tools/functions, provided by legitimate developers.

PUAs are one of the main culprits behind rogue redirects to deceptive/scam, untrustworthy, rogue, compromised and malicious webpages. However these applications can have various abilities. They can deliver intrusive ads (e.g. pop-ups, surveys, banners, etc.), which severely diminish the browsing experience by limiting browsing speed and site visibility (i.e. they overlay pages). Additionally, once clicked on - such advertisements redirect to dangerous websites and can even stealthily download/install software (e.g. PUAs). Another type of unwanted app can hijack browsers by altering settings and retracing/denying access to them - in order to promote fake search engines. Most PUAs (regardless of their type) can track data. They record browsing activity (URLs visited, search queries typed, etc.) and collect users' personal information inferred from it (e.g. IP addresses, geolocations and real-life details). This vulnerable data is likely to be shared with third parties, seeking to misuse it for financial gain - potentially, by putting it to criminal use. In summary, PUAs can cause browser/system infiltrations and infections, lead to serious privacy issues, financial losses and even identity theft. To ensure device and user safety - it is necessary to remove all suspect applications and/or browser extensions/plug-ins without delay.
