How to stop redirects to and from odicfulbrid.info

Also Known As: odicfulbrid.info pop-up
Damage level: Medium

What is odicfulbrid[.]info?

odicfulbrid[.]info is a rogue website, designed to promote dubious content and generate redirects to other untrustworthy and even malicious web pages. The site shares many similarities with ryseconomi.infogoodbase.bizthefastpush.complace-web.com and countless others.

Few users enter these websites intentionally - most are redirected by intrusive ads or Potentially Unwanted Applications (PUAs) already infiltrated into devices. These apps do not need express user permission to be installed onto systems. PUAs operate by causing redirects, running intrusive advertisement campaigns and tracking browsing-related data.

odicfulbrid[.]info pop-up redirects

The behavior of these rogue sites is determined by visitors' geolocations, which they learn by checking the IP addresses. Depending on their geolocations, visitors are redirected elsewhere and/or presented with dubious material. Furthermore, odicfulbrid[.]info uses browser notifications.

People are tricked into enabling these through using 'clickbait' ("PREPARE TO DOWNLOAD! You need to enable browser notifications to start downloading."). If these notifications are enabled, odicfulbrid[.]info starts displaying various unwanted and harmful ads (e.g. pop-ups, banners, coupons, etc.).

The delivered ads diminish the browsing experience by reducing browsing speed and limiting web page visibility. Furthermore, once clicked, intrusive advertisements redirect to sale-oriented, untrusted, rogue, compromised, deceptive/scam and malicious websites.

They can also be triggered (when clicked) to execute scripts designed to download/install unwanted software (e.g. PUAs) without users' consent. Unwanted applications force-open likewise dangerous web pages and can deliver intrusive ad campaigns.

Most PUAs have data tracking capabilities. They can monitor browsing activity (browsing and search engine histories) and gather sensitive data derived from it (IP addresses, geolocations and other details, which can contain personally identifiable information).

The collected data is often shared with third parties (potentially, cyber criminals) seeking to misuse it for profit. To ensure system health and user safety, remove all suspicious applications and browser extensions/plug-ins immediately upon detection.

PUAs usually seem legitimate and entice users into download/installation with offers of "useful" features, however, these functions rarely work as advertised and, in most cases, do not work at all. The only purpose of PUAs is to generate revenue for the developers.

Rather than delivering any real value, they force-open untrusted and malicious pages, run intrusive advertisement campaigns and track private data.

How did adware install on my computer?

PUAs proliferate through the download/installation set-ups of other software. This deceptive marketing technique of packing regular programs with unwanted or malicious content is called "bundling". By rushing through download/installation processes (e.g. ignoring terms, using presets, skipping steps and sections, etc.), many users endanger their devices with potential infiltration and infections. Certain PUAs have "official" download web pages. Intrusive ads also proliferate these applications. When clicked, they can execute scripts to stealthily download/install PUAs.

How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications

All products should be researched carefully to verify their legitimacy, prior to download/installation. You are advised to use only official and verified download sources. Unofficial and free file-hosting websites, P2P sharing networks (BitTorrent, eMule, Gnutella, etc.) and other third party downloaders are untrusted and can offer likewise dubious content.

Download and installation processes should be approached with caution. Read the terms, study all available options, use the "Custom/Advanced" settings and opt-out of supplementary apps, tools, features and other additions. Intrusive ads often seem normal and innocuous, however, they can redirect to dubious sites (e.g. pornography, adult-dating, gambling, etc.).

If you encounter these advertisements/redirects, inspect the system and remove all suspect applications and browser extensions/plug-ins without delay. If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.

How to avoid browser notification spam?

Internet users should be very skeptical when being asked to allow notifications. While this is a useful feature that allows you to receive timely news from websites you like, deceptive marketers frequently abuse it.

Only allow notifications from websites that you fully trust. For added security - use an anti-malware application with a real-time web browsing monitor to block shady websites that tries to trick you into allowing spam notifications. We recommend using Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows.
