How to stop redirects to and from ouropiniio.fun website?

Also Known As: ouropiniio.fun pop-up
Damage level: Medium

What is ouropiniio[.]fun?

Ouropiniio[.]fun is a rogue website, which shares many similarities with bennyaflickgotit.ga, anymorenews.com, checkrobotics.com, and countless others. This page operates by presenting visitors with dubious content and/or redirecting them to untrustworthy/malicious sites.

Users tend to enter websites of this kind inadvertently. Most get redirected to them by intrusive adverts or PUAs (Potentially Unwanted Applications) installed onto their devices. These apps do not need explicit consent to infiltrate systems; therefore, users may be unaware of their presence.

PUAs are capable of causing redirects, running intrusive advertisement campaigns, and collecting browsing-related and private data.

ouropiniio[.]fun pop-up redirects

The geolocations of visitors to ouropiniio[.]fun determine this site's behavior. The webpage learns this information by checking users' IP (Internet Protocol) addresses.

Hence, whether visitors get redirected elsewhere and/or are presented with questionable material - depends on their geolocations. Additionally, most rogue pages use deceptive techniques to trick users into enabling their browser notifications.

This is true of ouropiniio[.]fun as well; it both uses clickbait - "To access to the video, click 'Allow'", and fake CAPTCHA verification. Should the notifications be allowed, the ouropiniio[.]fun website will start running intrusive ad campaigns.

The adverts it delivers are both a nuisance and a threat. Once clicked on, intrusive ads redirect to unreliable/malicious sites, and some can download/install software (e.g., PUAs) without user permission.

Potentially unwanted applications can have different functionalities, which can be in varied combinations. To elaborate, these apps can force-open harmful webpages and/or deliver intrusive advert campaigns.

Furthermore, PUAs typically have data tracking abilities. Information of interest includes (but is not limited to): browsing and search engine histories, IP addresses, geolocations, and personally identifiable details. The gathered data is then shared with and/or sold to third-parties (potentially, cyber criminals).

To summarize, the presence of unwanted software on devices - can lead to system infections, financial losses, severe privacy issues, financial losses, and even identity theft. Therefore, to protect device and user safety, all suspect applications and browser extensions/plug-ins must be eliminated immediately upon detection.

PUAs appear ordinary and innocuous. They entice users into download/installation and/or purchase with offers of various functionalities.

However, the advertised features rarely work. Functionality and user safety are irrelevant, since the only goal of unwanted apps is to generate profit for the developers.

PUAs are designed to cause redirects, deliver intrusive advertisement campaigns, and gather vulnerable information.

How did adware install on my computer?

PUAs can be downloaded/installed alongside other software. This false marketing tactic of pre-packing regular programs with unwanted or malicious additions - is called "bundling".

Rushed download/installation processes (e.g., ignored terms, used "Easy/Express" settings, etc.) increase the risk of allowing bundled software/media into the systems. Intrusive adverts proliferate PUAs as well.

Upon being clicked, the ads can execute scripts to download/install these applications stealthily. PUAs may also have "official" promotional/download webpages.

How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?

It is important to research software products before download/installation and/or purchase. Additionally, only official and verified download sources must be used.

Untrustworthy download channels, e.g., unofficial and free file-hosting sites, Peer-to-Peer sharing networks, and other third-party downloaders - commonly offer dangerous and bundled content. When downloading/installing, it is recommended to read terms, study possible options, use the "Custom/Advanced" settings, and opt-out from supplementary apps, tools, functions, etc.

Intrusive advertisements appear legitimate and harmless; however, they redirect to various unreliable and questionable websites (e.g., gambling, pornography, adult-daring, and so forth). In case of encounters with ads and/or redirects of this type, the system must be checked and all suspicious applications and browser extensions/plug-ins detected - removed from it without delay.

If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.

How to avoid browser notification spam?

Internet users should be very skeptical when being asked to allow notifications. While this is a useful feature that allows you to receive timely news from websites you like, deceptive marketers frequently abuse it.

Only allow notifications from websites that you fully trust. For added security - use an anti-malware application with a real-time web browsing monitor to block shady websites that tries to trick you into allowing spam notifications. We recommend using Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows.
