How to remove redirects to and from android-system.live website?

Also Known As: android-system.live pop-up
Type: Adware
Damage level: Medium

What is the android-system[.]live website?

Android-system[.]live is a rogue site, which presents visitors with highly questionable content and/or redirects them to untrustworthy or possibly malicious webpages. The Internet is rife with such websites; totalnicestories.comflymedia, and liveredby.online - are but a few examples.

Android-system[.]live and similar sites are seldom accessed intentionally. Most users get redirected to these webpages by intrusive adverts or installed PUAs (Potentially Unwanted Applications).

This software does not need explicit permission to infiltrate systems; therefore, users may be unaware of its presence. PUAs are designed to cause redirects, run intrusive advertisement campaigns, and collect browsing-related data.

android-system[.]live pop-up redirects

The behavior of android-system[.]live and other rogue websites - is determined by their visitors' geolocations. This information is inferred from visiting users' IP (Internet Protocol) addresses.

In other words, whether visitors are presented with dubious material and/or get redirected elsewhere - depends on their IP addresses/ geolocations. Furthermore, these untrustworthy pages tend to use clickbait and other deceptive content - to trick users into enabling their browser notifications.

Should the android-system[.]live site's notifications be allowed - it will begin delivering intrusive ad campaigns. The delivered ads are more than just a nuisance, they are also considered to be dangerous.

Upon being clicked, intrusive adverts redirect to various misleading/harmful websites, and some can download/install software (e.g., PUAs) without user consent. Unwanted applications can force-open unreliable and malicious webpages (e.g., android-system[.]live).

However, these apps can have different/additional functions. For example, adware-type PUAs can deliver intrusive advertisement campaigns.

Furthermore, most PUAs (regardless of other abilities) can track data. They can monitor browsing activity (URLs visited, pages viewed, search queries typed, etc.) and collect vulnerable data extracted from it (IP addresses, geolocations, personally identifiable details, etc.).

This sensitive information is then monetized by being shared with and/or sold to third-parties (potentially, cyber criminals). In summary, the presence of unwanted software on devices - can lead to system infections, severe privacy issues, financial losses, and even identity theft.

To ensure device and user safety, all suspicious applications and browser extensions/plug-ins must be removed without delay.

PUAs usually appear ordinary and harmless. They also promise a wide variety of "useful" functionalities.

However, the features seldom work as advertised, and in most cases - they do not work at all. The only goal of unwanted apps is to generate profit for the developers; hence, functionality and user safety are irrelevant.

PUAs are designed to force-open dubious and harmful sites, deliver intrusive advert campaigns, and collect private data.

How did adware install on my computer?

PUAs are proliferated via download/installation setups of other software. This false marketing technique of packing regular programs with unwanted or malicious additions - is called "bundling".

Rushed download/installation processes (e.g., skipped steps and sections, etc.) increase the risk of unintentionally allowing bundled content into the system. Intrusive adverts proliferate PUAs as well.

Once clicked on, the ads can execute scripts to make stealthy downloads/installations. PUAs may also have "official" promotional webpages from which they can be downloaded.

How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?

It is recommended to research software products before download/installation and/or purchase. Additionally, only official and verified download sources must be used.

Untrustworthy download channels, e.g., unofficial and free file-hosting websites, Peer-to-Peer sharing networks, and other third-party downloaders - often offer deceptive and/or bundled content. When downloading/installing, it is advised to read terms, explore available options, use the "Custom/Advanced" settings, and opt-out from supplementary apps, tools, features, and other additions. Intrusive advertisements appear legitimate and innocuous; however, they redirect to various questionable sites (e.g., gambling, pornography, adult-dating, and so forth).

In case of encounters with such ads and/or redirects, the system must be inspected and all suspect applications and browser extensions/plug-ins detected - removed from it immediately. If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.
