How to remove apps force-opening the kakstitotako.com website?

Also Known As: kakstitotako.com pop-up
Damage level: Medium

What is kakstitotako[.]com?

Kakstitotako[.]com is a rogue website sharing similarities with herelations.fun, express-news.me, checkrobotics.com, and many others. This page is designed to present visitors with questionable content and/or redirect them to untrustworthy/malicious sites.

Users rarely enter such webpages intentionally; most get redirected to them by intrusive adverts or installed PUAs (Potentially Unwanted Applications). These apps can stealthily infiltrate systems and subsequently cause redirects, deliver intrusive advertisement campaigns, and collect private data.

kakstitotako[.]com pop-up redirects

How kakstitotako[.]com operates is determined by its visitors' geolocations. The site learns this information from visiting users' IP (Internet Protocol) addresses. Hence, whether visitors get redirected elsewhere and/or presented with dubious material - depends on their geolocations/ IP addresses.

Furthermore, rogue webpages use deceptive tactics (e.g., misleading statements, instructions, content, etc.) to trick users into enabling their browser notifications. This also applies to the kakstitotako[.]com website.

The "Allow" option to its notifications is disguised as CAPTCHA verification. By completing the fake verification, visitors inadvertently allow this page's browser notifications, and as a result - enable it to run intrusive advertisement campaigns.

The delivered adverts are more than a minor nuisance, they also pose a threat to device and user safety. When clicked on, intrusive ads redirect to unreliable/malicious websites, and some can download/install software (e.g., PUAs) without user permission.

PUAs can have a variety of heinous functionalities, which can be in different combinations. For example, these applications can cause redirects and/or deliver intrusive ad campaigns.

What is more, most PUAs have data tracking abilities. Information of interest includes: URLs visited, webpages viewed, searched queries typed, IP addresses/ geolocations, personally identifiable details, etc. The gathered data is then shared with and/or sold to third-parties, intent on misusing it for profit as well.

To summarize, the presence of unwanted apps on devices - can result in system infections, severe privacy issues, financial losses, and even identity theft. Therefore, to protect device integrity and user safety, it is crucial to remove all suspicious applications and browser extensions/plug-ins immediately upon detection.

PUAs typically appear legitimate and offer a broad range of features. Regardless of what functions this software promises (e.g., easy access to specific online content, file format conversion, operating system cleaning and optimizing, etc.), they seldom work as advertised, and in most cases - they do not work at all.

Functionality and user privacy are irrelevant, as the only goal of unwanted apps is to generate revenue for the developers. Hence, instead of delivering on any promises, PUAs can force-open untrustworthy and malicious websites, run intrusive advertisement campaigns, and gather private data.

How did adware install on my computer?

PUAs can be downloaded/installed together with other software. "Bundling" is the name of this deceptive marketing method - pre-packing regular programs with unwanted or malicious additions.

Rushed download/installation processes (e.g., skipped steps and sections, etc.) increase the risk of unintentionally allowing bundled software into the system.

Intrusive adverts proliferate PUAs as well. Once clicked on, the ads can execute scripts to download/install these applications without user consent/knowledge. PUAs may also have "official" promotional/download sites.

How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?

It is advised to research software prior to download/installation and/or purchase. Additionally, only official and trustworthy download sources must be used. Dubious download channels, e.g., unofficial and free file-hosting websites, Peer-to-Peer sharing networks, and other third-party downloaders - commonly offer hazardous and/or bundled content.

When downloading/installing, it is recommended to read terms, study available options, use the "Custom/Advanced" settings, and opt-out from additional apps, tools, functions, etc. Intrusive advertisements appear ordinary; however, they redirect to various unreliable and questionable webpages (e.g., adult-dating, gambling, pornography, and many others).

In case of encounters with such ads and/or redirects, the system must be checked and all suspect applications and browser extensions/plug-ins detected - immediately removed from it. If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.

How to avoid browser notification spam?

Internet users should be very skeptical when being asked to allow notifications. While this is a useful feature that allows you to receive timely news from websites you like, deceptive marketers frequently abuse it.

Only allow notifications from websites that you fully trust. For added security - use an anti-malware application with a real-time web browsing monitor to block shady websites that tries to trick you into allowing spam notifications. We recommend using Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows.
