How to uninstall apps causing redirects to the junesmile.xyz website?

Also Known As: junesmile.xyz pop-up
Damage level: Medium

What is the junesmile[.]xyz website?

Junesmile[.]xyz is a rogue webpage, sharing many common traits with vigilated.space, notify.tk, zpreland.com, and thousands of others. This site operates by presenting visitors with dubious content and/or redirecting them to various websites (likely untrustworthy or malicious ones).

Users rarely enter such pages intentionally; most get redirected to them by intrusive ads or installed PUAs (Potentially Unwanted Applications). This software can infiltrate systems without explicit user consent. PUAs are designed to cause redirects, deliver intrusive advertisement campaigns, and collect browsing-related data.

junesmile[.]xyz pop-up redirects

Junesmile[.]xyz in detail

Whether visitors to junesmile[.]xyz are presented with questionable material and/or redirected elsewhere - depends on their geolocations. The website learns this information by checking users' IP (Internet Protocol) addresses.

Additionally, rogue sites use deceptive tactics to trick visitors into enabling their browser notifications. This applies to junesmile[.]xyz as well; it employs fake CAPTCHA verification for this purpose. Should the notifications be allowed, junesmile[.]xyz will begin running intrusive advert campaigns.

The displayed advertisements are more than just a nuisance, they also pose a threat to device and user safety. Once clicked on, the ads redirect to unreliable/malicious sites, and some can download/install software (e.g., PUAs) without user permission.

How do potentially unwanted applications operate?

PUAs can have harmful functions, which can be in different combinations. For example, these apps force-open websites and/or deliver intrusive advertisement campaigns. Most PUAs can track data. Information of interest includes: visited URLs, viewed pages, searched queries, IP addresses, personally identifiable details, and so forth.

PUA developers monetize the collected data by sharing it with and/or selling it to third-parties. In summary, the presence of unwanted software on devices can lead to system infections, severe privacy issues, financial losses, and identity theft. Therefore, it is strongly advised to remove all suspect applications and browser extensions/plug-ins immediately upon detection.

Potentially unwanted applications in general

PUAs usually appear ordinary and innocuous. Users are lured into download/installation with offers of various "handy" and "advantageous" features. However, the functionalities seldom work as advertised, and in most cases - they are utterly nonoperational.

The only goal of unwanted apps is to generate revenue for the developers; hence, functionality and user safety are irrelevant. PUAs operate by causing redirects, delivering intrusive advert campaigns, and collecting private and sensitive information.

How did adware install on my computer?

PUAs are spread via download/installation setups of other programs. "Bundling" is the term describing this false marketing technique - packing regular software with unwanted or malicious additions. Rushed downloads/installations (e.g., ignored terms, skipped steps, etc.) increase the risk of allowing bundled content into the device.

Intrusive advertisements are also used to proliferate PUAs. When clicked on, the adverts can execute scripts to make stealthy downloads/installations. Some PUAs have "official" promotional/download webpages as well.

How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?

It is recommended to research software before download/installation and/or purchase. Additionally, only official and verified download channels must be used. Untrustworthy sources, e.g., Peer-to-Peer sharing networks, unofficial and free file-hosting sites, and other third-party downloaders - commonly offer bundled and/or dangerous content.

Download and installation processes must be approached with caution. Therefore, it is important to read terms, study all available options, use the "Custom/Advanced" settings, and decline downloading/installing additional apps, tools, functions, and so on.

Intrusive advertisements appear legitimate and harmless; however, they redirect to various unreliable and questionable websites (e.g., gambling, pornography, adult-dating, and many others).

In case of encounters with such ads and/or redirects, the device must be inspected and all suspicious applications and browser extensions/plug-ins detected - immediately removed from it. If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.

How to avoid browser notification spam?

Internet users should be very skeptical when being asked to allow notifications. While this is a useful feature that allows you to receive timely news from websites you like, deceptive marketers frequently abuse it.

Only allow notifications from websites that you fully trust. For added security - use an anti-malware application with a real-time web browsing monitor to block shady websites that tries to trick you into allowing spam notifications. We recommend using Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows.
