What is POLIZIA SLOVENA?

POLIZIA SLOVENA DIPARTIMENTO DI CRIMINALITA INFORMATICA (Vaš računalnik jelaklenjen) is a deceptive screen locker, which demands payment of a bogus fine for supposed law violations committed by PC users. In fact, this is a scam originating from a family of ransomware called Reveton. This particular ransomware targets PC users predominantly from Slovenia.

Cyber criminals who designed this screen locker exploit the name of the Slovenian police and use their graphics within the screen locker.

Do not trust this message - the Slovenian police have no connection with this message, and if you pay the bogus fine, you will send your money to cyber criminals. Any message stating that your computer was locked because you downloaded videos and music from the Internet, is false.

The video recording window and graphics are designed to scare PC users into believing that they could be in serious trouble if they do not pay the 100 Euro fine. Do not believe any information displayed by this message.

In addition, the Reveton family of ransomware is localized - different text (translations) and graphics for the authorities are presented to PC users, depending on the countries in which they are situated. This ransomware detects computer IP addresses and displays a localized version of the fake message.

The default value in the Data column is Explorer.exe - if you see something else displayed in this window, remove it and type Explorer.exe (take a note of whatever else was displayed in the Data column - this is the path of the rogue execution file). Use this information to navigate to the rogue executable and remove it.

6. Restart your computer, download and install legitimate anti-spyware software and perform a full system scan to eliminate any remnants of the POLIZIA SLOVENA (Vaš računalnik jelaklenjen) virus.
