Strathclyde Police Virus

What is Strathclyde Police?

Strathclyde Police computer screen locker is a ransomware PC infection created by Cyber criminals. Like its previous versions, this screen locker is developed with the sole purpose of tricking unsuspecting PC users into paying a bogus fine for watching pornography, etc.

Do not pay this fine, it is a scam. If you pay this fine you will send your money to Cyber criminals and your computer will remain blocked.

Internet criminals who designed this scam have slightly changed the design and deceptive message.

What is Great Antispy 2012?

Great Antispy 2012 is a fake antivirus program, which impersonates legitimate security software, and in this way, tricks computer users into purchasing a licence key to remove non existent security threats. This program should not be trusted - it is an empty software shell, which delivers fake security scans and warning messages in order to intimidate PC users into believing that their computers have serious malware and virus infections.

This rogue employs a professionally-designed user interface, thus further deceiving PC users into believing that they are dealing with legitimate software.

Department of Justice scam

What is Department of Justice?

"Department of Justice - your computer has been locked" is a ransomware computer infection, which demands payment from users of a bogus fine for watching pornography.

This is a screen locker, which uses MoneyPak to collect fines from unsuspecting PC users, a scam developed by Cyber criminals who exploit the name of the FBI Department of Justice in order to scare computer users into believing that they have violated federal law, and thus have to pay a fine ($200 or $300) to unlock their computers.

In fact, no authorities use screen lockers to collect fines for law infringements. Do not pay this fine - you will lose your money and your PC will remain locked.

When installed on your PC, this fake security scanner will begin imitating a security check-up, resulting in a large list of 'detected' Trojans, worms, and spyware.

The message displayed by this ransomware states that your computer was blocked because you were watching or distributing copyrighted content.

This information is false, since authorities do not use screen lockers to collect fines for law infringements.

United States Cyber Security Virus

Do not believe a word presented in this message. It is a scam, since no authorities block computers to collect fines for law infringements.

To make their screen lockers appear authentic, Cyber criminals use the names of authorities, and in this case, United States Cyber Security.

Celas Virus

What is Celas?

Celas and FBI ransomware is recent, having been active for just a few months. These security infections block the desktop of computer users and demand payment of fines for users' purported illegal download and distribution of music tracks.

Fake Windows Genuine Advantage Notifications

What is Fake Windows Genuine Advantage Notifications?

Such screen lockers are popular amongst Cyber criminals who design their ransomware using names of authorities and reputable companies. In this way, they make their fake messages appear authentic.

Furthermore, these computer infections are configured by country - ransomware is capable of identifying your computer's IP address and thus able to determine the language in which the fake message is delivered.

Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) is a free antivirus program created by Microsoft who do not request payment for updates. Cyber criminals exploit the name of a reputable antivirus program in order to make their message appear authentic.

When this ransomware infiltrates your PC, you will be unable to access your desktop, and the scam will report 'security infections' supposedly detected on your PC. It will then ask you to pay for the fake MSE security update.
