Search.pandaviewer.com redirect removal instructions
What is search.pandaviewer.com?
Developers present PandaViewer as a light and fast image viewer, which can be used free of charge. On initial inspection, PandaViewer may seem legitimate and useful, however, this software is categorized as a browser hijacker and a potentially unwanted program. There are three main reasons for these negative associations: 1) installation without users' consent; 2) stealth modification of web browser settings, and; 3) tracking of users' Internet browsing activity.
Following successful infiltration, PandaViewer assigns the Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox new tab URL, default search engine, and homepage options to search.pandaviewer.com. It then appends this URL to the target of each browser shortcut. Therefore, users are automatically redirected to search.pandaviewer.com when they search via the URL bar or when opening a browser/new browser tab. These redirects significantly diminish the Internet browsing experience. Furthermore, PandaViewer automatically reassigns browser settings when attempts are made to change them. Therefore, returning browsers to their previous states becomes impossible. PandaViewer continually records IP addresses, search queries, URLs visited, pages viewed, and other similar information that might contain personal details. PandaViewer's developers share these details with third parties who misuse personal information to generate revenue. Thus, the presence of an information-tracking program on your system can lead to serious privacy issues or even identity theft. You are strongly advised to remove the PandaViewer browser hijacker immediately.
PandaViewer shares many similarities with OZIP, Fastcompress, SOSO DESK, and dozens of other browser-hijacking applications. All claim to provide 'useful functionality', however, apps such as PandaViewer are designed only to generate revenue for the developers, whilst regular users receive no significant value. Browser hijackers cause unwanted redirects and continually gather personally identifiable information - they provide none of the features promised.
How did search.pandaviewer.com install on my computer?
Research shows that, although PandaViewer has an official download website, many users install this PUP inadvertently, without their consent. This is due to a deceptive marketing method called "bundling" - stealth installation of third party applications with regular software/apps. Developers hide all bundled programs within the "Custom/Advanced" settings of the download or installation processes. Rushing these procedures and skipping steps exposes systems to risk of various infections and compromises users' privacy.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
There are two simple steps you should take to prevent this situation. Firstly, never rush when downloading and installing software. Closely analyze each step using the "Custom" or "Advanced" settings. Secondly, decline offers to download/install additional applications and cancel those already included. The key to computer safety is caution.
