Yesadsrv.com Redirect

Also Known As: yesadsrv.com pop-up
Type: Adware
Damage level: Medium

What is yesadsrv.com?

Identical to tc-clicks.com, spzan.com, codeadnetwork.com, and many others, yesadsrv.com is a rogue website designed to redirect to other suspicious sites.

Users often visit yesadsrv.com inadvertently, since they are redirected by various potentially unwanted programs (PUPs) that infiltrate systems without permission, or trick users to install by delivering false claims to provide various "useful features". As well as causing redirects, PUPs deliver intrusive online advertisements and continually record various user-system information.

yesadsrv.com adware

PUPs open new browser tabs/windows and redirect to yesadsrv.com, which, in turn, redirects to a random suspicious website. The end point (a suspicious website) might contain malicious content. These redirects can result in high-risk computer infections.

As mentioned above, PUPs also deliver intrusive online advertisements (such as banners, pop-ups, coupons, etc.) To display these, developers employ various tools (such as a "virtual layer") that enable placement of third party graphical content on any site.

Therefore, they often conceal underlying website content, significantly diminishing the browsing experience. Be aware that intrusive ads can lead to malicious websites or even activate scripts that download and install malware (or other PUPs). Therefore, clicking them might cause infections.

PUPs continually monitor browsing activity by gathering IP addresses, website URLs visited, pages viewed, search queries, mouse/keyboard activity, and other similar information.

This collected data might contain personal details that PUP developers sell to third parties (potentially, cyber criminals who also aim to generate revenue by misusing private information). Therefore the presence of information-tracking PUPs can lead to high-risk adware or malware infections. We strongly advise you to eliminate PUPs from your system immediately.

The Internet is full of PUPs, all of which are virtually identical. They might offer different functionality, but have identical behavior. PUPs are designed only to generate revenue for the developers.

Rather than providing any significant value for regular users, they promote various deceptive websites (most of which are fake search engines), display intrusive online advertisements (using the "Pay Per Click" advertising model), and continually gather various information (which is later shared with third parties to generate revenue).

As with PUPs, fake search engines promote other websites, deliver intrusive advertisements, and continually gather private information. To promote other websites, they generate false results. As with intrusive ads, these fake results can also lead to malicious websites. Therefore, using fake search engines risks system infection and compromises users' privacy.

How did adware install on my computer?

Some PUPs have official download/promotion sites, however, research shows that PUPs (including those with official websites) are also distributed using a deceptive marketing method called "bundling", and via intrusive ads. Many users rush the download/installation processes and skip steps.

Aware of this, developers conceal "bundled" PUPs within the "Custom/Advanced" settings of these processes. Thus, skipping this section and clicking various ads often leads to inadvertent installation of PUPs. This exposes systems to risk of various infections and compromises users' privacy.

How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?

The main reasons for computer infections are poor knowledge and careless behavior. To prevent this situation, be very cautious when browsing the Internet and when downloading/installing software. Intrusive advertisements may seem genuine and it is virtually impossible to determine if they originate from the visited (legitimate) website.

No matter how tempting these ads may appear, do not take the risk of clicking them. In addition, download your software from trusted sources only and use a direct download URL rather than using third party downloaders/installers. These tools will bundle malicious apps and should never be used.

When downloading/installing, carefully analyze all processes (especially the "Custom/Advanced" options) and opt-out of all additionally-included programs. The key to computer safety is caution.
