Feed.shopping-day.com Redirect

Also Known As: ShoppingDay browser hijacker
Damage level: Medium

What is feed.shopping-day.com?

feed.shopping-day.com is a fake Internet search engine identical to feed.speedomizer.com, feed.video-browse.com, feed.emoji-search.com, and many others. By promising improved results, feed.shopping-day.com attempts to give the impression of legitimacy.

Be aware, however, that this site is promoted using a browser-hijacking application called ShoppingDay. Furthermore, feed.shopping-day.com and ShoppingDay collect various user-system information relating to Internet browsing activity.

feed.shopping-day.com browser hijacker

Immediately after infiltration, ShoppingDay hijacks Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox, stealthily assigning the new tab URL, default search engine, and homepage settings to feed.shopping-day.com. These changes may seem insignificant, however, users are unable to revert them.

Research shows that ShoppingDay reassigns browser settings when attempts are made to change them. Therefore, returning browsers to their previous states becomes impossible and users are encouraged to visit feed.shopping-day.com when they open a new browser tab or search via the URL bar. These redirects significantly diminish the browsing experience.

Furthermore, feed.shopping-day.com and ShoppingDay continually record user-system information relating to browsing activity. Collected data often includes personal details that developers share with third parties. There is a high probability that these people will misuse private information to generate revenue.

Therefore, information gathering can lead to serious privacy issues or even identity theft. We strongly recommend that you uninstall the ShoppingDay browser hijacker and never return to feed.shopping-day.com

The Internet is full of fake search engines that share similarities with feed.shopping-day.com. The list of examples includes (but is not limited to) search.myappzcenter.com, inspiratiooo.com, search.tapufind.com, and webstart.me. All claim to enhance the web browsing experience.

Fake search engines are designed only to generate revenue for the developers and deliver no real value for regular users.

They cause unwanted redirects and gather sensitive data. In some cases, they even generate misleading search results and intrusive advertisements. In these cases, users are redirected to dubious sites. Therefore, using fake search engines risks system infection.

How did feed.shopping-day.com install on my computer?

ShoppingDay is free for anyone to download on its official website, however, in most cases this browser hijacker infiltrates systems without permission. The reasons for this are the lack of knowledge and careless behavior of many users. Criminals typically promote browser hijackers using two methods: 1) "bundling", and; 2) intrusive advertising.

"Bundling" is stealth installation of third party programs with regular software/apps. Developers hide "bundled" apps within "Custom/Advanced" settings (or other sections) of the download or installation processes. Many users rush these procedures and skip steps.

In addition, they often click ads without understanding the possible consequences. In doing so, many users merely expose their systems to risk of various infections and compromise their privacy.

How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?

To prevent this situation, be very cautious when downloading/installing software and browsing the Internet in general. Carefully analyze each window of the download/installation dialogs and opt-out of all additionally-included programs.

We also recommend that you avoid using third party download/installation tools, since criminals monetize them using the aforementioned "bundling" method. Download apps from official sources only, using direct download links.

Furthermore, bear in mind that intrusive ads typically seem legitimate, but once clicked, redirect to suspicious sites (e.g., gambling, adult dating, and so on). Intrusive ads are often delivered by adware-type PUPs - if you encounter them, immediately remove all dubious applications and browser plug-ins. Using a legitimate anti-virus/anti-spyware suite is also paramount.
