What is hp.myway.com?
Mindspark Interactive Network has developed many applications, including CrazyForCrafts, which supposedly allows access to thousands of crafting project ideas directly from the browser (new tabs).
In fact, CrazyForCrafts is categorized as a potentially unwanted app (PUA), a browser hijacker, since many people download and install it unintentionally. Furthermore, this PUA promotes a dubious search engine: hp.myway.com.
Most applications of this type can be installed on browsers such as Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, and Mozilla Firefox. Regardless of the browser, however, once installed, CrazyForCrafts modifies the settings. It assigns the default search engine, homepage, and new tab URL address to hp.myway.com.
These modifications are permanent unless this browser hijacker is uninstalled. CrazyForCrafts reassigns settings when attempts are made to change them. Therefore, users with this app installed on their systems are forced to visit hp.myway.com when they open browsers, new tabs, or enter search queries into the URL bar.
Most browser-hijacking apps collect information relating to users' browsing habits, however, it is not known if CrazyForCrafts carries out this function. Note that most PUAs gather IP addresses, search queries, URLs of visited websites, and geo-locations. They sometimes gather personal, sensitive details as well.
PUA developers share the data with third parties who misuse it to generate revenue. Some of these third parties might be cyber criminals. Therefore, remove all browser hijackers immediately.

DailyFunnyWorld, TaxCenterNow, and SportsHero are just a number examples of other apps developed by the same company as CrazyForCrafts. Some of these apps are very similar to CrazyForCrafts, whilst others are quite different. In any case, most promote a dubious search engine (in this case, hp.myway.com) and hijack browsers.
These apps do not operate as promoted and are designed only to generate revenue for their developers.
How did CrazyForCrafts install on my computer?
PUAs can sometimes be downloaded from their websites, and this is the case with CrazyForCrafts, however, few people download and install apps of this type intentionally. In most cases, the installations occur due to clicked intrusive advertisements or when software developers employ the "bundling" method.
They use this method to trick people into downloading/installing unwanted apps together with other software (that users wish to download/install intentionally).
To achieve this, they hide PUAs in "Custom", "Manual", "Advanced" and other settings of software download or installation set-ups, however, these unwanted installations happen only if people install or download software without paying attention (i.e. when they leave all available settings unchanged).
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
Take precautions when browsing the internet and downloading and installing software, especially if it is freeware (free software). Download software from official sources (websites) and using direct download links. Third party downloaders and installers, unofficial websites, Peer-to-Peer networks (torrent clients, eMule etc.) should not be trusted.
Do not skip steps of software download/installation processes, deselect offers to install additionally-included applications, and only then finish the installation (or download). Intrusive advertisements may seem legitimate, however, once clicked, they often redirect people to dubious websites (gambling, adult dating, pornography, and so on).
Typically, these advertisements are delivered by adware-type apps. If you encounter unwanted redirects or intrusive ads, check your browser and remove all dubious applications (extensions, add-ons, and plug-ins). You are also advised to check the list of programs installed on the operating system.
If your computer is already infected with CrazyForCrafts, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate this browser hijacker.
