Remove unwanted redirects to likeherlife.info

Also Known As: likeherlife.info pop-up
Damage level: Medium

What is likeherlife[.]info?

The likeherlife[.]info website displays dubious content or redirects visitors to other untrustworthy web pages. It is virtually identical to many other sites of this type such as bikereddint[.]info, suaningrebtersed[.]info, and newschanel[.]biz.

Generally, people do not arrive at these websites intentionally - they are opened by potentially unwanted applications (PUAs) installed on browsers or operating systems. Most PUAs gather information relating to users' browsing habits and deliver unwanted, deceptive ads.

likeherlife[.]info pop-up redirects

When installed, PUAs open likeherlife[.]info (and other websites of this type) in new windows or tabs. It then causes additional (typically, 2-3) redirects to other untrustworthy, potentially malicious websites or displays dubious content. Note that these actions depend on the visitor's geolocation.

Furthermore, PUAs regularly deliver unwanted, intrusive ads that are displayed via tools that enable placement of third party graphical content on any site. Therefore, they conceal underlying content of visited websites. Typically, the ads are coupons, pop-ups, banners, surveys, and so on.

It is not safe to click these ads, since they redirect to potentially malicious websites or execute scripts that download and install other unwanted applications. Another problem with PUAs is that they gather information such as users' IP (Internet Protocol) addresses, addresses of visited websites, entered search queries, geolocations and other data.

They sometimes also record personal details. PUAs developers share the information with third parties who misuse it to generate revenue. There is a strong possibility that some of these parties will include cyber criminals.

PUAs are often virtually identical and share the same purpose: to deliver unwanted/intrusive ads, collect information, and redirect users to untrustworthy websites. If installed, PUAs can cause problems with privacy, browsing safety issues, or they can even lead to identity theft. We recommend that you remove all PUAs immediately.

How did adware install on my computer?

In some cases PUAs can be downloaded from their websites, however, people usually download and install them inadvertently through clicked intrusive, deceptive ads or together with regular software that they wish to download/install. Essentially, they tricked into unwanted downloads/installs.

To achieve this, developers use "bundling", a deceptive marketing method. They bundle unwanted apps into set-ups of other software and hide this information in "Custom" and "Advanced" settings. Furthermore, many people download/install software without checking these parts of the set-ups and thereby allow PUAs to be downloaded and installed.

How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?

Do not download software from untrustworthy websites, using torrent clients, eMule, or other Peer-to-Peer networks. The best way to download files or programs is via official sites and direct download links. Do not leave setup settings unchecked. Dismiss offers to download/install any unwanted programs.

Avoid clicking intrusive (deceptive) ads, since they often redirect users to various untrustworthy websites. Typically, these web pages relate to gambling, pornography, adult dating, etc. If you experience unwanted ads or redirects to dubious sites, check for unwanted entries installed on your browser.

Remove all unknown, suspicious plug-ins, add-ons, and extensions immediately. Also remove any unwanted programs installed on the operating system. If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.

How to avoid browser notification spam?

Internet users should be very skeptical when being asked to allow notifications. While this is a useful feature that allows you to receive timely news from websites you like, deceptive marketers frequently abuse it.

Only allow notifications from websites that you fully trust. For added security - use an anti-malware application with a real-time web browsing monitor to block shady websites that tries to trick you into allowing spam notifications. We recommend using Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows.
