How to eliminate browser redirects to and from newsfile.club

Also Known As: newsfile.club pop-up
Damage level: Medium

What is newsfile[.]club?

newsfile[.]club is a rogue website that shares similarities with thegoodcaster.com, finderient.com, freshaudio.net, and many others. This website redirects visitors to other dubious sites and delivers dubious content.

Many users visit newsfile[.]club inadvertently - they are redirected by potentially unwanted applications (PUAs) or intrusive advertisements delivered by other rogue sites. Research shows that many PUAs infiltrate computers without users' direct permission. In addition to causing redirects, they record data and generate intrusive advertisements.

newsfile[.]club pop-up redirects

Following infiltration, PUAs open new browser tabs/windows and redirect users to newsfile[.]club. Depending on the visitor's geolocation (which is determined by checking the IP address), newsfile[.]club then redirects elsewhere or delivers certain content. In any case, users might be presented with malicious content.

Thus, visiting newsfile[.]club can lead to various system infections. Clicking intrusive advertisements (pop-ups, banners, coupons, etc.) can also have identical consequences, since they often redirect to dubious websites and might even run scripts that download/install other potentially unwanted/malicious applications.

Note that PUAs deliver ads using tools that enable placement of third party graphical content on any site. As a result, intrusive advertisements often conceal underlying content, thereby significantly diminishing the browsing experience. Potentially unwanted applications usually perform data tracking.

They gather Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, queries entered into search engines, website URLs visited, web pages viewed, and other similar data. This information is shared with third parties (potentially, cyber criminals) who generate revenue by misusing it in various ways.

Therefore, the presence of information-tracking apps might lead to serious privacy issues, including identity theft. We strongly recommend that you eliminate these applications immediately.

There are dozens of PUAs online, all of which are very similar. Most offer "useful functionality", however, these claims are merely attempts to give the impression of legitimacy and trick users to install. In fact, the only purpose potentially unwanted applications is to generate revenue for the developers.

Rather than giving any real value for regular users, they deliver advertisements, cause redirects, and gather information, thereby significantly diminishing the browsing experience.

How did adware install on my computer?

Although some potentially unwanted applications have official download/promotion websites, most infiltrate computers without permission. Developers proliferate these programs using advertisements and a deceptive marketing method called "bundling" (stealth installation of third party applications together with regular software).

Developers are not honest enough to adequately disclose installation of "bundled" programs, and intentionally hide PUAs behind "Custom/Advanced" settings or other sections of these procedures.

Furthermore, many users often click advertisements and skip download/installation steps. In doing so, they expose their systems to risk of various infections and compromise their privacy.

How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?

The key to computer safety is caution. Therefore, pay close attention during the download/installation processes and when browsing the Internet in general. Study each step of the download/installation processes using the "Custom" or "Advanced" settings. Opt-out of additionally-included programs and decline offers to download/install them.

Avoid using third party downloaders/installers, since they often include rogue applications. Software should be downloaded from official sources only and, if possible, using direct download links. Bear in mind that intrusive advertisements often seem legitimate, however, they can redirect to dubious websites such as adult dating, gambling, survey, pornography, and similar.

If you experience these ads/redirects, check the list of installed applications/browser plug-ins and eliminate all dubious entries. If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.

How to avoid browser notification spam?

Internet users should be very skeptical when being asked to allow notifications. While this is a useful feature that allows you to receive timely news from websites you like, deceptive marketers frequently abuse it.

Only allow notifications from websites that you fully trust. For added security - use an anti-malware application with a real-time web browsing monitor to block shady websites that tries to trick you into allowing spam notifications. We recommend using Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows.
