Eliminate the application that opens feed.getlive.news

What is feed.getlive.news?
feed.getlive.news is a fake search engine promoted via a potentially unwanted application (PUA) called Get Live News, which can be downloaded from the getlive.news website. This app promotes feed.getlive.news by changing the settings of a hijacked browser.
Furthermore, PUAs usually collect various browsing data. According to the developers of Get Live News, this app supposedly finds news sites and provides an improved search experience.
Get Live News modifies browser settings such as the homepage, default search engine, and new tab URL by assigning them to feed.getlive.news. Therefore, users are forced to visit this site when they open a browser, new browser tab, or enter search queries into the URL bar. Generally, browser hijackers prevent users from undoing the settings they have appointed.
The only way to undo or change them is to uninstall the app (in this case, Get Live News). While installed, browser hijackers collect IP addresses, geolocations, URLs of opened websites, entered search queries and other similar data. Some also record sensitive information.
People who use browser hijackers to track data share the details with other parties who might be cyber criminals - they misuse private data to generate revenue. Note that the feed.getlive.news site is useless to regular users. Typically, fake search engines provide no unique results.
In this case, users simply receive results generated by Yahoo, since feed.getlive.news redirects to search.yahoo.com (a legitimate search engine). Apps such as Get Live News and fake search engines such as feed.getlive.news cannot be trusted. If a PUA is installed on your browser or computer, it should be removed immediately.

freeonlinepdftools.com, smartpackagetracker.com, and mystreamingtab.com are just some examples of other fake search engines, of which there are hundreds on the Internet. Typically, they are advertised as 'legitimate and useful', and supposedly provide various features.
Unfortunately, most are useless and often cause problems with privacy, browsing safety, misleading search results, and so on.
How did Get Live News install on my computer?
Typically browser hijackers such as Get Live News are downloaded or installed via intrusive advertisements or together with other software. Some intrusive advertisements can execute scripts that stealthily download and install unwanted or even malicious apps. To trick people into downloading and installing PUAs via other software, developers use the bundling technique.
They hide information about additional unwanted programs in "Custom", "Advanced" and other similar sections of the software download or installation set-ups. Furthermore, some users leave the settings available within these setups unchanged, thus enabling PUAs to be downloaded and installed together with other software.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
Download and install software correctly. Check settings such as "Custom", "Advanced", and all checkboxes presented in download or installation set-ups. Do not allow PUAs to be downloaded or installed. Download programs from official websites and do NOT use third party downloaders or installers, torrent clients, eMule (or other Peer-to-Peer networks), etc.
Avoid visiting untrustworthy websites and clicking ads displayed on them. They can lead to other dubious web pages that might contain malware. If unwanted redirects and ads occur regularly, check for unwanted apps. Study the list of installed extensions, add-ons, and plug-ins (depending on the browser) and uninstall all unwanted, suspicious apps.
The same applies to programs of this type that are installed on the operating system. If your computer is already infected with Get Live News, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate this browser hijacker.
