What is leadcolas[.]com?
Leadcolas[.]com is a rogue site, designed to redirect visitors to untrustworthy and malicious websites, as well as force-feed them highly dubious content. It shares many similarities with rembrandium.com, ernorvious.com, getmedia.me and innumerous others. It should be noted that few ever access leadcolas[.]com willingly, most of its visitors are redirected to it.
These redirects are caused by either intrusive ads or PUAs (potentially unwanted applications) already present in their device. These apps do not need explicit user permission to be installed onto their systems; once there they cause undesirable redirects, run invasive advertisement campaigns and track data.
Intrusive adverts are known promoters of rogue websites, leadcolas[.]com being one of them. PUAs are also guilty of proliferating said sites. The first action taken by leadcolas[.]com is checking visitors' IP (Internet Protocol) addresses in order to infer their geolocation.
Based on it, the website either redirects users elsewhere and/or presents them with questionable content for their consumption. Regardless, of its exact behavior - leadcolas[.]com is deemed a threat, as visitors to it are guaranteed to encounter malicious material.
Additionally, this site misuses browser notifications, which if allowed - run intrusive ad campaigns. The consent option to the notifications is hidden behind click-bait ("your page is loading, click here to continue"). Invasive advertisements themselves cause redirects and some can even execute scripts to download/install PUAs.
These unwanted applications also have the ability to redirect users to unreliable/malignant websites, as well as deliver ads. By using a variety of tools PUAs enable third party graphical content, therefore the ads they deliver can limit browsing speed and site visibility.
Another notorious ability that undesirable applications have is data tracking. Information of interest includes: browsing and search engine history, IP address, geolocation and personal details. What is vital to understand is that this data is then sold to third parties, possibly even cyber criminals.
Therefore, presence of PUAs in one's device can lead to serious browser and system infections, as well as severe privacy and identity issues. All rogue applications should be removed immediately upon detection.

Most PUAs are successfully designed to appear legitimate and functional. They often offer "useful" and "beneficial" features in order to lure inexperienced users into installing them. However, it must be stressed that these apps serve no other purpose but to generate revenue for their developers.
Therefore in nearly all cases, the promised features turn out to be nonfunctional. Instead of any advertised uses/abilities, PUAs cause unauthorized redirects, deliver intrusive ads and gather sensitive information.
How did adware install on my computer?
Unwanted applications can be autonomously downloaded/installed by invasive adverts. However, they can also be installed by users themselves. PUA designers employ a false marketing method termed "bundling", when regular software is packed together with rogue apps.
By skipping steps, ignoring terms and using pre-set install settings - users may expose their computers to PUA invasions. To summarize, user inattentiveness and reckless behavior when browsing and installing programs are the main causes for unwanted application presence in systems.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
It is recommended to use only official and verified sources for software downloads (preferably, via direct download links). Peer-to-peer sharing networks (e.g. BitTorrent, eMule, Gnutella, etc.) and other third party downloaders are strongly advised against. Programs downloaded from untrustworthy sources are much more likely to be bundled with PUAs.
When installing software it is recommended to follow proper procedures, this includes: exploring terms and possible options, using "Custom/Advanced" settings, opting-out from installing additional applications/features, declining from downloading such from elsewhere.
If tempted to accept any supplementary offers, users should do at least the base amount of research, in order to verify their legitimacy. Caution and attentiveness are crucial to healthy browsing habits. Users should avoid suspicious sites and exercise extreme care with advertisements (i.e. not clicking them randomly).
Invasive adverts are intentionally designed to appear legitimate and innocuous, which makes identifying them difficult. However the sites they redirect to (pornography, adult-dating, gambling and etc.) tend to be more obvious in their unreliability.
Should users encounter such ads/redirects, they are highly recommended to inspect their device for any rogue applications and/or browser extensions/plug-ins. Upon detection, all PUAs should be removed without delay. If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.

How to avoid browser notification spam?
Internet users should be very skeptical when being asked to allow notifications. While this is a useful feature that allows you to receive timely news from websites you like, deceptive marketers frequently abuse it.
Only allow notifications from websites that you fully trust. For added security - use an anti-malware application with a real-time web browsing monitor to block shady websites that tries to trick you into allowing spam notifications. We recommend using Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows.
