Getting rid of redirects to/from nerinlelighda.pro

Also Known As: nerinlelighda.pro pop-up
Damage level: Medium

What is nerinlelighda[.]pro?

Nerinlelighda[.]pro is a rogue site. It operates by causing redirects to other compromised, possibly malicious websites and presents users with highly suspect content (including click-bait). There are thousands of rogue sites (watchonline.click, viralupdatestoday.comexclusivenotifications.com, to name a few) and many of them share similar traits.

It should be mentioned that few visitors access nerinlelighda[.]pro willingly. Most users get redirected to it by intrusive advertisements or have it force-opened by PUAs (potentially unwanted applications).

These rogue applications do not need explicit user consent to be installed onto their devices; once there - they cause undesirable redirects, run invasive ad campaigns and track data.

nerinlelighda[.]pro pop-up redirects

PUAs promote nerinlelighda[.]pro by independently (i.e. without action taken or consent given by the user) opening new browser tabs/windows and redirecting to it. Another way that this website spreads is through intrusive adverts. The protocol of action for nerinlelighda[.]pro begins with checking visitor's IP (Internet Protocol) address, from it the site learns their geolocation.

The latter is key to determining its further course of action; depending on the geolocation users are either redirected elsewhere or force-fed seriously questionable material. Regardless of how it acts, visitors to nerinlelighda[.]pro are bound to encounter malicious content.

Another thing important to know about this website, is its use of browser notifications. The consent option is disguised by click-bait, parading as a free media player update. However, this is a mere disguise and by clicking "allow", users consent to receiving notifications form nerinlelighda[.]pro and not to updating their media player.

If consented to the browser notifications, the site begins running invasive advertisement campaigns. Said adverts are deemed a threat, due to the unreliable/malicious websites they redirect to, as well as their ability to execute scripts designed to download/install PUAs. Unwanted applications cause redirects to identically hazardous sites as well.

They can also run intrusive ad campaigns (pop-ups, banners, coupons and etc.). By employing a wide variety of tools, they enable third party graphical content, therefore the adverts that PUAs deliver can affect the browsing experience (limit site visibility and browsing speed).

Additionally, these rogue apps can have data tracking abilities. By monitoring users' browsing habits they can extract their personal information. What is vital to understand, is that this data is then passed onto third parties (possibly, cyber criminals), seeking to misuse it in order to generate revenue.

To summarize, PUAs can cause serious browser and systems infections, as well as severe privacy issues (even lead to identity theft). All rogue applications must be removed immediately upon detection.

Most PUAs offer some sort of "useful" and "advantageous" features. However, it must be noted that these features rarely work and often are absolutely nonfictional.

The only purpose that these apps serve is to create profit for their developers; for users they have no genuine value. Instead of delivering on any promises made, they cause redirects, run intrusive ad campaigns and gather sensitive information.

How did adware install on my computer?

Mainly, unwanted applications proliferate through invasive advertisements and installation pack/bundles. By clicking said ads users can expose their systems to various invasions and infections. "Bundling" is a term used to describe a false marketing method, by which ordinary programs are packed together with PUAs.

While opting-out from these additions can be possible, these options are often hidden behind "Custom/Advanced" settings. Users who tend to ignore terms, skip steps and use pre-set install options can become victims of undesired application infiltrations.

How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?

It is highly recommended to use official and verified sources for all software downloads. With P2P (peer-to-peer) sharing networks and other third party downloaders being strongly advised against, as they are more likely to bundle their programs.

Installation recommendations include: exploring terms and options, using "Advanced/Custom" settings, opting-out/declining from installing/downloading additional applications/features. It is advised to avoid suspicious sites and ads when browsing.

Invasive adverts can appear legitimate and harmless, however the websites they redirect to (gambling, pornography, adult-dating and etc.) are more obvious in their unreliability. Should users encounter such ads/redirects, it is recommended to perform a system check-up and uninstall any dubious apps and/or browser extensions/plug-ins.

If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.

How to avoid browser notification spam?

Internet users should be very skeptical when being asked to allow notifications. While this is a useful feature that allows you to receive timely news from websites you like, deceptive marketers frequently abuse it.

Only allow notifications from websites that you fully trust. For added security - use an anti-malware application with a real-time web browsing monitor to block shady websites that tries to trick you into allowing spam notifications. We recommend using Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows.
