Getting rid of redirects to/from born2bahick.com

Also Known As: born2bahick.com pop-up
Damage level: Medium

What is born2bahick[.]com?

Born2bahick[.]com, sharing a lot of similar traits with mega-deals.mobigetmedia.mepushmehoney.com and many others, is a rogue website. It is designed to generate redirects to untrustworthy and possibly malicious sites, as well as feed users unreliable content (including clickbait).

Visitors to this website rarely access it intentionally; most get redirect by intrusive advertisements or have it forcefully opened by PUAs (potentially unwanted applications). It is noteworthy, that said apps do not require express user consent to be installed onto their devices.

Once successfully infiltrated, they cause unauthorized redirects, deliver invasive ad campaigns and some can even spy on users' browsing activity.

born2bahick[.]com pop-up redirects

PUAs promote born2bahick[.]com by force-opening new browser tabs/windows and redirecting users to it. Intrusive adverts, once clicked, can similarly redirect to it. First, born2bahick[.]com checks visitors' IP (Internet Protocol) addresses, in order to infer their geolocations.

The latter is crucial to determining its further course of action. The born2bahick[.]com website either redirects users elsewhere and/or presents highly dubious content for their consumption. Its misuse of browser notifications is also worth nothing.

By hiding the consent option underneath clickbait ("click here if you're 18 or older", "your page is loading, click here to continue", "click here to verify, that you are not a robot", "press allow, to access the newest/viral content/articles/videos/movies/etc." and many other examples), it can fool users into allowing its notifications.

If consented to, born2bahick[.]com begins running intrusive ad campaigns. Adverts of this type are deemed a threat, due to the untrustworthy/malicious websites they redirect to, and their ability to execute scripts, designed to autonomously download/install PUAs.

Undesirable apps can cause redirects to likewise dangerous sites, as well as run intrusive advertisement campaigns. Another heinous ability that some unwanted applications possess is data tracking. Browsing activity inevitably contains traces of users' personal information.

What is important to understand, is that this data is then sold to third parties and can end up serving criminal purposes. Therefore presence of PUAs within systems can cause various invasions and infections, as well as lead to serious privacy issues (even identity theft).

In order to ensure device integrity and user safety, all rogue applications must be removed immediately.

Most PUAs offer some kind of "useful" and "advantageous" features. By appearing legitimate and highly practical, they trick many users into allowing them into their systems. Although, these features may sound great and often ask for no charge (i.e. are advertised as free), users can end up paying with the safety of their devices and privacy.

It must be stressed, that the only purpose unwanted apps serve is to generate revenue for their creators. To users they have no genuine value and are often utterly nonfunctional. Instead of operating as promised, they generate redirects, deliver ads and track sensitive data.

How did adware install on my computer?

PUAs can infiltrate devices through rogue installs committed by invasive advertisements. However they can be installed by users themselves alongside desired software. "Bundling" is a false marketing method, by which regular programs are packed together with dubious applications.

By rushing through the installation process (e.g. ignoring terms and possible options, skipping steps, using pre-set settings and etc.) users can inadvertently expose their systems to various invasions and infections.

How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?

It is strongly advised to use only official and verified sources for downloading software (preferably, via direct download links). Using P2P (peer-to-peer) sharing networks and other third party downloaders is ill advised; programs downloaded from untrustworthy sources are more likely to contain PUAs.

Users are encouraged to read installation terms and explore possible options - in order to check whether they are installing exactly what they intend to. It is highly recommended to use "Custom/Advanced" install settings and opt-out/decline installing/downloading additional apps/features.

Prudent browsing habits include - avoiding suspicious sites and adverts. Intrusive ads are designed to get as many clicks as possible, therefore they often appear very legitimate and absolutely innocuous. However, the sites they tend to redirect to (e.g. pornography, adult-dating, gambling and similar) are more obvious in their unreliability.

In case of encounters with such advertisements/redirects, users should check their device and remove any questionable applications and/or browser extensions/plug-ins. If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.

How to avoid browser notification spam?

Internet users should be very skeptical when being asked to allow notifications. While this is a useful feature that allows you to receive timely news from websites you like, deceptive marketers frequently abuse it.

Only allow notifications from websites that you fully trust. For added security - use an anti-malware application with a real-time web browsing monitor to block shady websites that tries to trick you into allowing spam notifications. We recommend using Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows.
