What is spnews[.]biz?
Similar to homededruju.com, dstatutorsher.info, eadingenered.pro, and thousands of others, spnews[.]biz is a rogue webpage. It operates by presenting visitors with dubious and possibly harmful content. Additionally, this site generates redirects to other untrustworthy, even malicious websites.
Most users enter spnews[.]biz inadvertently when they are redirected through intrusive advertisements or Potentially Unwanted Applications (PUAs). These apps do not need explicit user consent to be installed onto devices. After successful infiltration, however, they cause redirects, deliver intrusive ads, hijack browsers, and track browsing-related information.
Firstly, spnews[.]biz checks visitors' IP addresses to learn their geolocations. This information is crucial, and is used to determine its subsequent actions. According to users' geolocations, they are redirected elsewhere and/or are presented with specific content.
Note that this dubious site also employs browser notifications, the consent option to which is hidden beneath 'clickbait' ("Click Allow to confirm that you are not a robot!"). Granting consent to these notifications enables spnews[.]biz to begin running intrusive advertisement campaigns (i.e., to deliver pop-ups, banners, surveys, coupons, and other ads of this type).
As well as being a nuisance, these ads redirect to various sale-based, untrustworthy, compromised, deceptive/scam and malicious pages. Some can even execute scripts designed to download/install PUAs without users' permission. As mentioned, unwanted applications generate redirects to likewise dangerous web pages.
By implementing various tools, PUAs can enable third party graphical content to be displayed on any site and run intrusive advertisement campaigns. They deliver ads carrying the aforementioned risks, which also significantly diminish the browsing experience (limit browsing speed and website visibility).
These apps can modify browsers and limit/deny access to settings (effectively, hijacking them). Regardless of their various capabilities, most PUAs can track data. They monitor and record information such as URLs visited, pages viewed, search queries typed, IP addresses, geolocations, and other use details.
This private and vulnerable data can then be shared with third parties (often, cyber criminals), seeking to misuse it for profit.
To summarize, PUAs can cause browser/system infiltration and infections and lead to serious privacy issues, financial issues and even identity theft. Due to these threats, you are advised to immediately remove all suspicious applications and browser extensions/plug-ins.

PUAs often seem legitimate and tempt users into downloading/installing them with offers of "useful" functions. In fact, these features are rarely operational. The sole purpose of this unwanted content is to generate revenue for the developers, whilst regular users receive no value.
PUAs force-open dubious and malicious sites, run intrusive ad campaigns, hijack browsers, and collect sensitive data.
How did adware install on my computer?
The most common way that PUAs infiltrate devices is via the download/installation set-ups of other programs (i.e., they are downloaded/installed together with other software). The deceptive marketing tactic of packing normal products with unwanted or malicious content is called "bundling".
By rushing through download/install processes (e.g. ignoring terms, using pre-set options, skipping steps and sections, etc.), many users risk allowing bundled programs onto their systems.
Some unwanted apps have "official" download websites. Another mode of PUA distribution is through rogue downloads/installs performed by intrusive advertisements. When these ads are clicked, they execute scripts to stealthily download/install PUAs.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications
Research all content and download it only from official and verified sources. P2P sharing networks (BitTorrent, eMule, Gnutella, etc.), free file-hosting sites and other third party downloaders are a threat to device health and should be avoided.
When downloading/installing, read the terms, explore available options, use the "Custom/Advanced" settings, and opt-out of additional apps, tools, features, etc. Intrusive ads may seem legitimate, however, they often redirect to dubious web pages (e.g. gambling, adult-dating, pornography and so on).
If you encounter ads/redirects of this kind, check the system and remove all suspect applications and/or browser extensions/plug-ins without delay. If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.

How to avoid browser notification spam?
Internet users should be very skeptical when being asked to allow notifications. While this is a useful feature that allows you to receive timely news from websites you like, deceptive marketers frequently abuse it.
Only allow notifications from websites that you fully trust. For added security - use an anti-malware application with a real-time web browsing monitor to block shady websites that tries to trick you into allowing spam notifications. We recommend using Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows.
