How to stop redirects to and from gubudakis.com

Also Known As: gubudakis.com pop-up
Damage level: Medium

What is gubudakis[.]com?

Similar to trendyarticle.comnewscoder7.comzahkit.pro and thousands of others, gubudakis[.]com is an untrusted, rogue website. Visitors to this site are presented with dubious content and/or are redirected to other dubious or malicious web pages. Typically, gubudakis[.]com and similar sites are accessed through redirects.

Intrusive advertisements and Potentially Unwanted Applications (PUAs) are capable of causing these redirects. Note that PUAs do not need explicit permission to infiltrate systems. These apps generate redirects, run intrusive ad campaigns and monitor users' browsing activity.

gubudakis[.]com pop-up redirects

Users' geolocations determine the behavior of gubudakis[.]com. It learns this information from their IP addresses. I.e., whether users are redirected elsewhere or presented with dubious content depends on their geolocations.

This web page also employs browser notifications, the consent option to which is disguised within 'clickbait' ("To confirm you are not a robot, click the 'Allow' button"). If people are tricked into enabling notifications, gubudakis[.]com runs intrusive ad campaigns.

The delivered ads (e.g. pop-ups, banners, coupons, surveys, etc.) diminish the browsing experience, as they limit browsing speed and website visibility, however, they are more than just a nuisance. Once intrusive advertisements are clicked, they redirect to untrusted/rogue, sale-oriented, compromised, deceptive/scam and malicious sites.

Some can even execute scripts to stealthily download/install PUAs. These unwanted applications force-open similarly harmful pages and deliver intrusive ad campaigns. PUAs commonly have data tracking capabilities.

They monitor users' browsing habits (URLs visited, web pages viewed, search queries typed, etc.) and gather personal information (IP addresses, geolocations and other details). The data is then shared with third parties (potentially, cyber criminals) seeking to misuse it for financial gain.

In summary, the presence of PUAs on systems can cause infiltration and infections, result in serious privacy issues, financial loss and even identity theft. To protect device integrity and user safety, remove all suspect applications and browser extensions/plug-ins immediately upon detection.

PUAs often seem genuine and "useful" software with a wide variety of features, however, the advertised functions rarely work as promised and, in most cases, are nonoperational.

The only purpose of this unwanted content is to generate profit for the developers, whilst regular users receive no value and might experience serious issues. Rather than delivering any real value, PUAs force-open untrusted and malicious websites, deliver intrusive ads and track private data.

How did adware install on my computer?

PUAs proliferate via the download/install set-ups of other software. This deceptive marketing technique of pre-packing normal programs with unwanted or malicious content is called "bundling".

By rushing through the download/installation processes (e.g. skimming or ignoring terms, skipping steps and sections, using presets, etc.), many users endanger devices with potential infiltration and infections. Some PUAs also have "official" download sites. Intrusive advertisements proliferate these apps as well.

When clicked, they can execute scripts designed to download/install PUAs without users' consent.

How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications

It is important to research all content before download/installation. Use only official and verified download channels. Free file-hosting websites, P2P sharing networks (BitTorrent, eMule, Gnutella, etc.) and other third party downloaders are classed as untrusted and should not be used.

When downloading/installing, you are advised to read the terms, study all possible options, use the "Custom/Advanced" settings and opt-out of supplementary apps, tools, functions and so on. Intrusive ads usually seem legitimate and harmless, however, once clicked, they redirect to various dubious web pages (e.g. gambling, pornography, adult-dating and so on).

If you encounter ads/redirects of this type, check the system and remove all suspicious applications and/or browser extensions/plug-ins without delay. If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.

How to avoid browser notification spam?

Internet users should be very skeptical when being asked to allow notifications. While this is a useful feature that allows you to receive timely news from websites you like, deceptive marketers frequently abuse it.

Only allow notifications from websites that you fully trust. For added security - use an anti-malware application with a real-time web browsing monitor to block shady websites that tries to trick you into allowing spam notifications. We recommend using Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows.
