How to remove redirects to and from supposercality.pro

Also Known As: supposercality.pro pop-up
Damage level: Medium

What is supposercality[.]pro?

supposercality[.]pro is rogue web page sharing many similarities with mediatop.mealldaystream.clubmbsimedia.com and thousands of others. Visitors to it are presented with dubious content and/or redirected to other untrusted or malicious sites.

Most users enter supposercality[.]pro unintentionally - they are redirected by intrusive ads or Potentially Unwanted Applications (PUAs) already installed on the system. Note that these apps can infiltrate devices without express permission. PUAs operate by generating redirects, delivering intrusive advertisement campaigns and monitoring browsing activity.

supposercality[.]pro pop-up redirects

When accessed, supposercality[.]pro first checks visitors' IP addresses to learn their geolocations. This information is key in determining the site's behavior. Depending on their geolocations, users are redirected elsewhere and/or presented with dubious material. Additionally, supposercality[.]pro uses browser notifications.

It attempts to trick visitors into enabling them via using 'clickbait' ("to download the file, click ALLOW"). If notifications are enabled, this rogue website begins running intrusive ad campaigns. Therefore, it will deliver various unwanted and harmful ads (e.g. pop-ups, banners, coupons, etc.).

These significantly affect the browsing experience, as they reduce browsing speed and limit web page visibility (by overlaying them). When clicked, intrusive advertisements redirect to sale-based, untrusted, rogue, deceptive/scam, compromised and malicious pages.

Furthermore, they can be triggered (when clicked) to execute scripts designed to stealthily download/install content. Software infiltrated in this manner includes PUAs. They force-open likewise dangerous sites and can run intrusive ad campaigns.

PUAs commonly have data tracking capabilities, which are employed to monitor browsing activity and gather information derived from it. Information of interest includes browsing and search engine histories, IP addresses, geolocations and users' personal details.

This private data can include personally identifiable details. It is highly likely that the gathered information will be shared with third parties (potentially, cyber criminals) seeking to misuse it profit.

To summarize, the presence of PUAs on systems can lead to various infiltration and infections, privacy issues, financial loss and even identity theft. Therefore, to ensure device integrity and user safety, remove all suspect applications and browser extensions/plug-ins immediately upon detection.

PUAs often seem legitimate and entice users to install with offers of "useful" functions. These features rarely work as advertised and, in most cases, are nonoperational. The only purpose of PUAs is to generate revenue for the developers. They cause redirects to untrusted and malicious web pages, run intrusive ad campaigns and collect sensitive data.

How did adware install on my computer?

PUAs proliferate through the download/installation set-ups of other programs. This deceptive marketing method of pre-packing normal software with unwanted or malicious additions is called "bundling". When downloading/installing, skimming or ignoring terms, using presets, skipping steps and sections increases the risk of unintentionally allowing bundled content onto the system.

Some PUAs have "official" download pages. Once clicked, intrusive ads can execute scripts to download/install PUAs without users' consent.

How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications

All products should be researched before download/installation. Use only official and verified download sources. Untrustworthy download channels, such as Peer-to-Peer sharing networks, free file-hosting websites and other third party downloaders can offer deceptive or bundled content.

When downloading/installing, you are advised to read the terms, study all possible options, use the "Custom/Advanced" settings and opt-out of additional apps, tools, features, etc. Intrusive advertisements usually seem legitimate and innocuous, however, they can redirect to rogue sites (e.g. pornography, adult-dating, gambling and others).

If you encounter these ads/redirects, you are strongly advised to inspect the system and remove all suspicious applications and browser extensions/plug-ins without delay. If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.

How to avoid browser notification spam?

Internet users should be very skeptical when being asked to allow notifications. While this is a useful feature that allows you to receive timely news from websites you like, deceptive marketers frequently abuse it.

Only allow notifications from websites that you fully trust. For added security - use an anti-malware application with a real-time web browsing monitor to block shady websites that tries to trick you into allowing spam notifications. We recommend using Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows.
