How to remove the Ezy Photo Tab browser hijacker

Also Known As: ezyphototab.com redirect
Damage level: Medium

What is Ezy Photo Tab?

Ezy Photo Tab is advertised as providing quick access to online photo and video editing websites. In fact, this app is a browser hijacker that promotes a fake search engine (ezyphototab.com) by modifying certain browser settings. It might also collect browsing data.

Users often download and install browser hijackers inadvertently and, therefore, they are classified as potentially unwanted applications (PUAs).

ezyphototab.com browser hijacker

After installation, Ezy Photo Tab changes the address of the default search engine, homepage, and new tab to ezyphototab.com. Therefore, users are forced to visit this address when they open a browser, new tab, or enter search queries into the browser's URL bar.

When used to search, ezyphototab.com redirects to search.yahoo.com and simply displays results generated by Yahoo (the main reason why ezyphototab.com is classified as a fake search engine). Typically, these browser modifications cannot be undone, unless the hijacker is uninstalled.

In this case, ezyphototab.com can be removed from the aforementioned settings only when Ezy Photo Tab is no longer installed. This is not the only reason to uninstall this app. Commonly, browser hijackers help developers to generate revenue by collecting data relating to users' browsing activities and habits.

They usually record IP addresses, geolocations, entered search queries, addresses of visited websites, and other browsing details, however, some browser hijackers can access private, sensitive information. Developers sell the data to third parties (potentially, cyber criminals) who misuse it to generate revenue in other ways.

Therefore, people might become victims of identity theft, experience problems relating to online privacy, browsing safety, and other problems. If Ezy Photo Tab is installed on the browser and/or operating system, remove it immediately (this applies to all installed browser hijackers).

Easy Flight Tracker, Quick Live News and Package Tracking Tab are some other apps that are classified as browser hijackers. There are many apps of this type on the internet.

Typically, browser hijackers are advertised as supposedly including useful features, improving the browsing experience, and so on, however, most are useless and can be the reason behind serious problems. As mentioned, people tend to download and install these rogue apps inadvertently.

How did Ezy Photo Tab install on my computer?

Some advertisements can cause download/installation of unwanted applications by executing certain scripts, however, this happens only when people click them. PUAs are mostly downloaded and installed together with other, regular software. I.e., when they are included into the download/installation set-ups as 'additional offers'.

These often appear in settings such as "Custom", "Advanced", and "Manual". Many users fail to check and change these settings when they download and install their programs, thereby allowing PUAs to infiltrate.

How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications

You are advised against using third party downloaders/installers, Peer-to-Peer networks (e.g., torrent clients, eMule), unofficial pages, or other similar channels to download or install your software/files.

Use only official, trustworthy websites and direct links. Check all download and installation settings (e.g., "Custom", "Advanced") and decline any offers to download or install additional, unwanted apps before completing the process.

Do not click intrusive ads that appear on suspicious, dubious websites, since they can open untrusted websites or cause download/installation of unwanted applications. Remove any extensions, plug-ins, and add-ons installed on the browser, and programs of this kind installed on the computer.

If your computer is already infected with Ezy Photo Tab, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate this browser hijacker.
