What is PDFSearchz?
PDFSearchz hijacks browsers by changing certain settings to pdf-searchz.com (the address of a fake search engine). This application also gathers browsing-related data. Frequently, users download and install browser hijackers inadvertently and, therefore, they are categorized as potentially unwanted applications (PUAs).
Users who have installed PDFSearchz on browsers are forced to visit pdf-searchz.com when they open a browser, new tab, or enter search queries. This app promotes the bogus address by assigning it as the homepage, new tab and default search engine.
When used as a search engine, pdf-searchz.com provides results generated by Yahoo, simply redirecting users to search.yahoo.com. I.e., it does not generate any unique results. To remove pdf-searchz.com from browser settings, users must first uninstall PDFSearchz, otherwise this browser hijacker will reassign settings after each attempt to change them.
These apps also collect data relating to users' browsing habits. For example, IP addresses, geolocations, entered search queries, and addresses of visited pages. Some browser hijackers can access and record confidential, sensitive details as well.
Developers can misuse the information to generate revenue by selling it to third parties (potentially, cyber criminals) or in other ways. Depending on how data is misused, users could become victims of identity theft, experience problems with browsing safety, online privacy and other issues. Therefore, remove PDFSearchz from browsers and operating systems.

Some examples of other browser hijackers are MovieBoxSearch, Comet Search and SportsSearcher. They are often advertised as apps that supposedly improve the browsing experience, include various features, and are useful in other ways, however, most do not function as promised and can cause serious problems.
You are advised against trusting (downloading or installing) apps of this type. Uninstall any PUAs that are already installed.
How did PDFSearchz install on my computer?
Users often download and install browser hijackers and other potentially unwanted apps through the set-ups of other programs - when PUAs are included into the set-ups as 'additional offers'. Typically, the offers can be declined in "Custom", "Advanced" or other settings.
Many users fail to even check these settings - leaving them unchanged allows PUAs to be downloaded or installed with other, required software. This software distribution method is known as "bundling". Additionally, unwanted downloads and installations are caused by clicking deceptive advertisements that run certain scripts.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications
Programs and files should NOT be downloaded from unofficial websites, through Peer-to-Peer networks (torrent clients, eMule, and so on), via third party downloaders, installed through third party installers, etc. You are advised to use only official websites and direct links as file/software download sources.
Check all "Advanced", "Manual, and "Custom" settings, and decline offers to download or install unwanted software. Do not click ads that are shown on dubious web pages, since they can open other bogus web pages or even run scripts designed to cause download/installation of unwanted apps.
Remove all unwanted, suspicious and unknown extensions, add-ons and plug-ins that are installed on the browser. Also remove programs of this kind that are installed on the operating system. If your computer is already infected with PDFSearchz, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate this browser hijacker.
