How to remove unwanted apps that promote nlyimprese.fun and similar web pages

Also Known As: Ads by nlyimprese.fun
Damage level: Medium

What is nlyimprese[.]fun?

Generally, users do not open pages such as nlyimprese[.]fun intentionally - they are opened when they click dubious ads, visit dubious pages, or when installed potentially unwanted applications (PUAs) open them. Note that there are many web pages similar to nlyimprese[.]fun online. Some examples are bigkick[.]biz, rchesasider[.]top and pectionexa[.]top.

nlyimprese[.]fun pop-up redirects

When a PUA is installed on the browser and/or the operating system, it can open sites such as nlyimprese[.]fun in a new browser window or tab. When this page is visited, it opens about two or three other bogus sites, or displays dubious content. this depends on the geolocation of its visitors.

Note that this website uses a 'clickbait' technique to trick visitors into clicking the "Allow" button - this allows visited pages to show their notifications. More precisely, nlyimprese[.]fun states that visitors must click the "Allow" button to continue browsing/loading the page. Never give permission to show notifications, since they can contain dubious ads, links to other untrusted pages, etc. Some examples of notifications that this page generates are provided below.

PUAs often collect data such as IP addresses, entered search queries, geolocations, addresses of visited websites, and other browsing-related information. In some cases, they are capable of accessing private, sensitive data as well. The information could be misused to generate revenue. For example, developers of installed PUAs sell gathered information to third parties (potentially, cyber criminals) or misuse it to generate revenue in other ways.

In such cases, users might encounter issues relating to privacy, browsing safety, or even worse, become victims of identity theft.

PUAs also generate ads. For example, coupons, pop-ups, surveys, banners and others. If clicked, these can open dubious, potentially malicious pages or even cause download/installation of some unwanted applications.

In summary, pages such as nlyimprese[.]fun are promoted via PUAs (or deceptive ads, other untrusted sites) - these apps generate revenue for the developers and are useless to regular users. If PUAs are installed on browsers/operating systems, remove them immediately.

How did adware install on my computer?

PUAs are often downloaded/installed together with other products. This deceptive marketing technique of pre-packing regular software with unwanted or malicious additions is called "bundling".

By rushing through download/installation of software (e.g. ignoring terms, skipping steps and sections, using "Quick/Express" settings, etc.) many users risk unintentionally allowing bundled content into their devices. Intrusive advertisements proliferate PUAs as well. When clicked, the ads can execute scripts to download/install these applications without users' permission.

Some PUAs have "official" download web pages from which they can be downloaded.

How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?

You are advised to download files and programs from official websites and via direct download links. Other tools and sources such as third party downloaders and installers, unofficial pages, and Peer-to-Peer networks (e.g., eMule, torrent clients) should not be used to download or install software.

Check all "Custom", "Advanced" and other similar settings (or available checkboxes) for offers to download and/or install unwanted apps. Do not click ads on dubious websites, since they can be designed to open bogus web pages or cause unwanted downloads and installations.

Remove any unwanted, suspicious extensions, plug-ins and add-ons installed on the browser, and software of this kind from the operating system.

If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.

How to avoid browser notification spam?

Internet users should be very skeptical when being asked to allow notifications. While this is a useful feature that allows you to receive timely news from websites you like, deceptive marketers frequently abuse it.

Only allow notifications from websites that you fully trust. For added security - use an anti-malware application with a real-time web browsing monitor to block shady websites that tries to trick you into allowing spam notifications. We recommend using Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows.
