How to remove InitialDevice from Mac?
What is InitialDevice?
InitialDevice changes browser's settings and generates advertisements and, possibly, certain information. In other words, InitialDevice functions both as adware and a browser hijacker. Typically, users download and install apps like InitialDevice unknowingly. For this reason, they are called potentially unwanted applications (PUAs).
InitialDevice browser's settings such as the address of a default search engine, homepage, and new tab: it changes these addresses to an address of some fake search engine. Usually, browser hijackers are designed to prevent users from removing their search engine (its address) from the browser's settings. Users can do it only when a particular browser hijacker is no longer installed. Examples of ads that apps like InitialDevice display are banners, surveys, pop-up ads, and coupons. It is common that those ads are used to promote dubious websites. In some cases, to distribute (download, install) unwanted software.
Furthermore, InitialDevice may collect browsing data like geolocations, addresses of visited websites, entered search queries, IP addresses, etc. However, it may be designed to gather sensitive information as well. Moreover, collected data could be misused for malicious purposes. For example, it could be monetized by selling it to third parties (potentially cyber criminals). It means that users of apps like InitialDevice are at risk of encountering online privacy, browsing safety issues, becoming victims of identity theft, or other problems.

Either way, most of them are useless to their users and designed only to generate revenue for their developers. Therefore, it is strongly advisable not to have any adware (or other unwanted software) installed on a browser or the operating system.
How did InitialDevice install on my computer?
Quite often, users download or install potentially unwanted applications when they are bundled together with other programs. More precisely, when PUAs are included in their download or installation setups as extra offers. As a rule, unwanted offers can be declined using available checkboxes, "Custom", "Advanced" and other similar settings. Users cause unwanted downloads, installations when they download, install software without declining unwanted offers. Sometimes users unintentionally download or install PUAs through deceptive ads: by clicking ads that are designed to execute certain scripts.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
Applications should be downloaded from official, legitimate pages and via direct download links. It is not safe to use third party downloaders (installers), Peer-to-Peer networks (for example, torrent clients, eMule), unofficial websites, etc., as sources for downloading (or installing) apps. Furthermore, downloads and installations should not be finished without declining unwanted offers that usually are mentioned in "Custom", "Advanced" or other download, installation setup's settings. Ads on dubious pages should not be clicked as well: those ads could open potentially malicious websites or cause unwanted downloads, installations. There should not be any unwanted, suspicious extensions, plug-ins, or add-ons installed on a browser and apps of this kind installed on the operating system. If your computer is already infected with InitialDevice, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for macOS to automatically eliminate this adware.
