How to remove the "365Scores - Live Scores and Sports News" browser hijacker?
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is "365Scores - Live Scores and Sports News"?
"365Scores - Live Scores and Sports News" is a typical browser hijacker: it hijacks browsers to promote a fake search engine (get365scores.com). Generally, apps of this type achieve this by changing browser settings.
365Scores - Live Scores and Sports News also reads browsing-related data. Typically, users download and install browser hijackers inadvertently and, therefore, this app and others of its type are classified as potentially unwanted applications (PUAs).
Typically, browser hijackers ensure that users are forced to visit a specific address when they enter search queries into the URL bar and open a browser or new tab. Most browser hijackers do this by changing the browser settings such as the default search engine, homepage, and new tab. 365Scores - Live Scores and Sports News assigns them to get365scores.com.
Fake search engines often show results generated by Google, Yahoo, Bing, and other legitimate search engines. I.e., they do not generate unique results. Despite this, some fake search engines generate misleading results, display ads, or redirect users to other dubious addresses. Get365scores.com shows results generated by Yahoo (redirects users to search.yahoo.com).
To remove the fake search engine from the browser settings, users must uninstall the browser hijacker. Otherwise, the hijacker will redo the changes made. In this case, get365scores.com365Scores can be removed from the settings only when the Live Scores and Sports News browser hijacker is no longer installed.
Browser hijackers often gather browsing data (IP addresses, geolocations, entered search queries, addresses of visited websites, etc.), and even personal, confidential information. In some cases, they can gather data from browsers and websites such as saved passwords, credit card details, and telephone numbers. The criminals behind installed browser hijackers use gathered information to generate revenue. For example, they could share it with third parties (sell it to other people), use it for marketing purposes, and monetize it in other ways.

More examples of apps classified as browser hijackers are TheStreamSearch, WebRadioSearch, and Newtab. Developers advertise them as legitimate, useful applications that supposedly include various features, improve the browsing experience, etc. In fact, browser hijackers are useless and can cause serious problems.
Therefore, never download or install the "365Scores - Live Scores and Sports News" app or any other browser hijackers.
How did 365Scores - Live Scores and Sports News install on my computer?
Browser hijackers, adware-type apps, and other types of PUAs are commonly distributed by integrating them into the download and/or installation set-ups of other programs, so that a proportion of users inadvertently download and install them together with their chosen software. This distribution method is known as "bundling".
Offers to download and install additionally-included apps usually appear in "Advanced", "Custom" and other settings of the set-ups (where they can usually be declined). Many users fail to check and change these settings, thereby granting permission for PUAs to be downloaded and installed by default.
In addition, unwanted downloads and installations are sometimes caused by clicking deceptive advertisements capable of executing certain scripts.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications
You are advised to download files and programs from official websites and via direct download links. Other tools and sources such as third party downloaders and installers, unofficial pages, and Peer-to-Peer networks (e.g., eMule, torrent clients) should not be used to download or install software.
Check all "Custom", "Advanced" and other similar settings (or available checkboxes) for offers to download and/or install unwanted apps. Do not click ads on dubious websites, since they can be designed to open bogus web pages or cause unwanted downloads and installations.
Remove any unwanted, suspicious extensions, plug-ins and add-ons installed on the browser, and software of this kind from the operating system.
