How to remove redirects to and from reatenedb.club website?

Also Known As: reatenedb.club pop-up
Damage level: Medium

What is reatenedb[.]club?

Sharing many similarities with ryknewho.club, arphanpyer.com, get-money-to.shop, and thousands of others, reatenedb[.]club is a rogue site. Visitors to it are presented with dubious content and/or redirected to unreliable or possibly dangerous webpages.

Users usually access such websites unintentionally; they get redirected to them by intrusive adverts or installed PUAs (Potentially Unwanted Applications). This software does not need express user permission to infiltrate systems.

PUAs can have heinous functionalities, including force-opening pages, running intrusive advertisement campaigns, and collecting browsing-related information.

reatenedb[.]club pop-up redirects

How reatenedb[.]club operates is determined by its visitors' geolocations. It learns this information by checking users' IP (Internet Protocol) addresses. In other words, whether visitors get redirected elsewhere and/or are presented with questionable material - depends on their geolocations.

Additionally, rogue webpages use deceptive tactics (e.g., clickbait, etc.) to trick users into allowing their browser notifications. The reatenedb[.]club site is not an exception to this, and should its notifications be enabled - it will begin running intrusive ad campaigns.

The delivered adverts are more than just a minor annoyance, they also pose a threat to device/user safety. When clicked on, intrusive advertisements redirect to untrustworthy/malicious websites, and some can download/install software (e.g., PUAs) without user consent.

Potentially unwanted applications can have various harmful functions, and they can be in different combinations. For example, these apps can force-open webpages and/or deliver intrusive advert campaigns.

Most PUAs have data tracking abilities as well. Targeted information includes: browsing and search engine histories, IP addresses, geolocations, personally identifiable details, and other sensitive data. The gathered information is then monetized by being shared with and/or sold to third-parties (potentially, cyber criminals).

In summary, the presence of unwanted software on devices - can result in system infections, severe privacy issues, financial losses, and even identity theft. To protect device integrity and user privacy. all suspicious applications and browser extensions/plug-ins must be eliminated immediately upon detection.

PUAs typically look ordinary and innocuous. Users are lured into download/installation with a broad range of "useful" and "advantageous" features. However, the advertised functions are rarely operational.

Functionality and user safety are irrelevant, as the sole goal of unwanted software is to generate revenue for the developers. Therefore, instead of delivering on any promises, PUAs can cause redirects, run intrusive advertisement campaigns, and gather vulnerable and private data.

How did adware install on my computer?

PUAs are distributed via download/installation setups of other products. This deceptive marketing technique of packing regular software with unwanted or malicious additions - is termed "bundling".

Rushed download/installation processes (e.g., ignored terms, skipped steps and sections, etc.) increase the risk of inadvertently allowing bundled content into the system. Intrusive adverts proliferate PUAs as well.

Once clicked on, the ads can execute scripts to download/install these applications stealthily. PUAs may also have "official" promotional/download pages.

How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?

It is advised to research software products before download/installation and/or purchase. Additionally, only official and trustworthy download channels must be used.

Since dubious download sources, e.g., unofficial and free file-hosting websites, Peer-or-Peer sharing networks, and other third-party downloaders - commonly offer bundled content. When downloading/installing, it is recommended to read terms, explore all available options, use the "Custom or "Advanced" settings, and opt-out from supplementary apps, tools, functions, and other additions.

Intrusive advertisements appear legitimate and harmless; however, they redirect to various questionable sites (e.g., gambling, adult-dating, pornography, etc.). In case of encounters with such ads and/or redirects, the system must be checked and all suspect applications and browser extensions/plug-ins detected - immediately removed from it.

If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.

How to avoid browser notification spam?

Internet users should be very skeptical when being asked to allow notifications. While this is a useful feature that allows you to receive timely news from websites you like, deceptive marketers frequently abuse it.

Only allow notifications from websites that you fully trust. For added security - use an anti-malware application with a real-time web browsing monitor to block shady websites that tries to trick you into allowing spam notifications. We recommend using Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows.
