Tobaitsie[.]com in detail

Potentially unwanted application overview

Despite their legitimate appearance, PUAs usually promise fake functionalities. What is more, most of these apps have harmful abilities, e.g., force-opening sites (tobaitsie[.]com, etc.), delivering intrusive advert campaigns, hijacking browsers, and gathering vulnerable data. In summary, PUAs can cause system infections, severe privacy issues, financial losses, and even identity theft.

How did adware install on my computer?

PUAs can be downloaded/installing together with other programs. This marketing technique of packing regular software with additions - is termed "bundling". Rushed downloads/installations increase the risk of allowing bundled content into the device. When clicked on, intrusive ads can execute scripts to download/install PUAs without user permission. Some of these applications may also have "official" promotional/download sites.

How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?

It is advised to research software and download it from official and verified sources. Untrustworthy download channels, e.g., unofficial and freeware websites, Peer-to-Peer sharing networks, etc. - often offer bundled/harmful content.

When downloading/installing, it is recommended to read terms, explore possible options, use the "Custom/Advanced" settings to opt-out from all additions. Intrusive advertisements appear legitimate; however, they redirect to highly questionable sites (e.g., gambling, pornography, adult-dating, etc.).

In case of encounters with such ads and/or redirects, the system must be checked and all suspicious applications and browser extensions/plug-ins detected - immediately removed from it. If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate them.

How to avoid browser notification spam?

Internet users should be very skeptical when being asked to allow notifications. While this is a useful feature that allows you to receive timely news from websites you like, deceptive marketers frequently abuse it.

Only allow notifications from websites that you fully trust. For added security - use an anti-malware application with a real-time web browsing monitor to block shady websites that tries to trick you into allowing spam notifications. We recommend using Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows.
