RopeInSavings removal instructions
What is RopeInSavings?
Created by Engaging Apps, RopeInSavings is a rogue browser add-on claiming to save time and money by enabling coupons, comparison shopping, and displaying special deals/discounts available on shopping websites. Although this functionality may seem legitimate, be aware that RopeInSavings is categorized as adware or a potentially unwanted application since it uses a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' (stealth installation of additional applications together with the chosen software) to install on Internet browsers without users' permission. Following successful infiltration on Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox, RopeInSavings generates intrusive online advertisements and tracks users' Internet browsing activity.
The intrusive online advertisements include pop-up, interstitial, text-link, banner, sponsored link, and targeted video ads. Clicking these ads may cause high-risk adware or malware infections. Furthermore, users' Internet browsing activity is continually tracked since RopeInSavings adware collects various information, which may be personally identifiable such as IP addresses, unique identifier numbers, search queries entered, URLs visited, pages viewed, geographic locations, cookies, and other similar details. This behavior may result in serious privacy issues or identity theft, and for this reason, you are strongly advised to eliminate RopeInSavings from your Internet browsers.
RopeInSavings is similar to other rogue browser extensions claiming to enhance users' Internet browsing experience by enabling certain functionality. For example: Stairway to Savings, Deal Fox, and CrazyCoupon. Neither RopeInSavings, nor any of these other plug-ins add any real value for the user - their purpose is to generate income by the display of intrusive online advertisements. Research shows that most Internet users infect their computers with adware via fake downloads (such as Java updates, browser updates, etc.) and free software 'download managers' employed by freeware download websites including softonic.com, soft32.com, and download.com
Be aware that download managers are used to monetize these websites' free services by offering installation of advertised 'virus-free' browser add-ons together with the chosen free software. Thus, reckless download and installation of freeware often results in adware or malware infections. To avoid installation of RopeInSavings or other potentially unwanted applications, pay close attention when downloading free software and never accept installation of any additional programs offered. If you are installing downloaded software, select the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' installation options, rather than 'Quick' or 'Regular' - this will reveal any hidden applications and allow removal of them from the installation list. Internet users who have already installed RopeInSavings and observe "Ads by RopeInSavings" advertisements, should follow this removal guide to uninstall RopeInSavings adware from their Internet browsers.
