Click Caption removal instructions
What is Click Caption?
Developed by a Delaware LLC, Click Caption is a potentially unwanted program claiming to allow Internet searches directly from the current webpage without navigating away. Although this functionality may seem legitimate and useful, be aware that Click Caption is categorized as adware since it employs a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' (stealth installation of additional programs together with the chosen software) to install on Internet browsers (Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox) without users' permission. Following successful installation, Click Caption generates numerous intrusive online advertisements including banner, pop-up, in-text, and search ads. Click Caption is not technically considered to be a virus or malware, however, it is highly probable that clicking advertisements generated by this adware will cause further high-risk adware/malware infections and computer security issues.
In addition, this potentially unwanted program continually monitors users' Internet browsing activity by collecting various software and hardware information such as unique identifier numbers, web browser types and data (including website URLs visited, search queries entered into search engines, pages viewed, cookies, web beacons, history, browser language settings, etc.), Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, geographic locations, and other similar details that may be personally identifiable. This information tracking may result in serious privacy issues or even identity theft. A clear indication that your browser has been infiltrated are 'Powered by Click Caption', 'Ads by Click Caption', and 'Click Caption Advertisement' ads delivered when surfing the Internet. Therefore, you are strongly advised to eliminate Click Caption adware from your Internet browsers.
Click Caption is similar to other rogue applications that employ bundling as an installation method. TheAnswerFinder, BetterBrain, and Term Tutor are just some examples among many others. These applications (including Click Caption) are useless to the user - their purpose is to generate revenue by sharing collected data with third parties and delivering intrusive online ads (that may cause further computer infections). Installation of Click Caption can be avoided by paying close attention when downloading free software and clicking 'Decline' if installation of any additional programs is offered. Furthermore, if you are installing downloaded software, select the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' installation options - this will reveal any bundled applications listed for installation and allow you to decline them. If you have installed Click Caption, and you observe intrusive online ads, follow the removal guide below to uninstall this adware from your Internet browsers.
