Deal Cola removal instructions

What is Deal Cola?

Developed by Engaging Apps, Deal Cola is a rogue browser plug-in claiming to save time and money by enabling coupons, comparison shopping, and displaying special deals/discounts available within online stores. Although this functionality may seem legitimate and useful, be aware that Deal Cola is categorized as adware or a potentially unwanted program (PUP). These associations are made due to a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' (stealth installation of additional programs together with the chosen software) employed by Deal Cola to install on Internet browsers without users' consent. Following successful infiltration on Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox, Deal Cola generates various intrusive online advertisements including (but not limited to) in-text links, coupons, comparison shopping, and transitional ads. It is highly probable that clicking these advertisements will cause high-risk adware or malware infections.

Furthermore, users' Internet browsing activity is continually tracked, since Deal Cola records various software and hardware information that may be personally identifiable. For example: Internet Protocol (IP) addresses (to determine users' locations), unique identifier numbers, operating system and browser types, URLs visited, search queries entered into search engines (Bing, Yahoo, Google, etc.), pages viewed, and other similar details. This behavior may lead to serious privacy issues or even identity theft. There are many applications similar to Deal Cola. For example, CouponScanner, Share This, and PriceCongress. Neither Deal Cola, nor any of these other applications, are useful to the user - their purpose is to generate revenue by delivering intrusive online ads and sharing collected data with third parties. Therefore, you are strongly advised to uninstall Deal Cola from your Internet browsers.

Close examination of Deal Cola reveals that it is mostly distributed via small programs called 'download managers' on freeware download websites such as download.com, softonic.com, soft32.com, and many others. Download managers are used by these websites as free services and traffic monetization tools, since they offer installation of promoted (according to the developers, '100% legitimate') browser extensions together with the chosen free software. Thus, careless download and installation of freeware risks computer infection with adware or malware. This situation can be prevented by closely inspecting each step of the free software download process and never accepting installation of any additional software offered. Furthermore, if you are installing downloaded software, select the 'Custom' or 'Advanced' installation options - this will reveal any hidden applications listed for installation and allow you to decline them. If you have installed Deal Cola, and you observe intrusive online ads while surfing the Internet, follow the removal guide provided to uninstall this adware from your Internet browsers.
