PastaLeads removal instructions
What is PastaLeads?
PastaLeads presents itself as a legitimate browser add-on that helps to find the best service professionals in your local area and compare prices. Although this extension may seem legitimate and useful, PastaLeads is adware distributed using a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling'. Bundling allows stealth distribution of applications together with other programs. After successful infiltration on Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox, PastaLeads delivers intrusive online advertisements and tracks users' browsing activity. Advertisements generated by this adware include (but are not limited to) pop-up/under, coupon, price comparison, banner, in-text, and display ads. These generated advertisements usually lead to websites containing dubious content and can result in high-risk adware or malware infections.
Information collected by PastaLeads (for example: operating system types, browser types and data, IP addresses, demographic location, etc.) may be personally identifiable and result in serious privacy issues. PastaLeads is identical to PastaQuotes - another application developed by PastaLeads PPC. These applications (as well as other adware-type applications such as LookingForTravels, External Source, DownSave, etc.) provide no real value to the user - they are developed to generate revenue by the display of intrusive ads and sharing collected data with third parties.
Most adware such as PastaLeads is distributed via small programs called 'download managers' that are used to monetize traffic and free services provided by freeware download websites. Installation of additional programs or browser extensions is offered together with the chosen software, and although it is stated that these promoted applications are '100% legitimate and virus-free', reckless download and installation of freeware often results in adware or malware infections. To avoid installation of PastaLeads, check each step during download of free software and opt-out of any additional applications. Furthermore, use the 'Advanced' or 'Custom' options when installing downloaded software - this will reveal any bundled applications listed for installation and allow you to opt-out. If you have installed PastaLeads, and you observe 'Ads by PastaLeads' and 'Brought to you by PastaLeads' advertisements while surfing the Internet, read the removal instructions provided to eliminate this potentially unwanted program (PUP) from your system.
