What is Sharp Angle?
Sharp Angle is a dubious browser extension claiming to improve the Internet browsing experience by enabling features such as comparison shopping, coupons, and so on. This functionality may seem useful, however, Sharp Angle is classed as adware or a potentially unwanted program (PUP).
These associations are made due to a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' employed by Sharp Angle to install on Internet browsers without users' consent. Bundling is a way to distribute third-party apps together with regular software, and therefore, most users install Sharp Angle during download of free software from freeware download websites.
After infiltration on Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox, Sharp Angle tracks users' Internet browsing activity and displays intrusive advertisements.
Sharp Angle collects various information including (but not limited to) unique identifier numbers, Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, website URLs visited, pages viewed, and search queries. These details may be personally identifiable, and therefore, the presence of Sharp Angle on your system can lead to serious privacy issues.
Furthermore, advertisements generated by this adware (for example, interstitial, transitional, full-page, pop-up, search, and banner) may redirect to bogus websites likely to contain dubious content, and thus exposing your computer to infection. For these reasons, you are strongly advised to uninstall Sharp Angle from your system.
The developers of this rogue add-on (SuperWeb LLC) release hundreds of identical applications under different names to avoid detection by legitimate anti-spyware and anti-virus suites. Assist Point, Plain Savings, Edu App, Ski Search, and Coupon Time are just some examples.
None of these add-ons (including Sharp Angle) provide any significant value for the user. All applications released by SuperWeb LLC are designed to display intrusive online advertisements and share collected data with third parties, to generate revenue.
Recently, most adware such as Sharp Angle was distributed via small programs called 'download managers' on freeware download websites. Download managers monetize these websites' free services and traffic by offering installation of additional programs together with the chosen free software.
Although these promoted apps are described as legitimate, they are mostly adware or malware. To prevent these infections, closely inspect each step of the free software download process and ensure that no other apps are included.
Furthermore, downloaded software should be installed using the 'Advanced' or 'Custom' installation options - this will reveal any third-party applications listed for installation and allow you to opt-out. If you have installed Sharp Angle, read the following removal guide and eliminate this adware from your system.
