Also Known As: searchvoyage.com redirect
Type: Adware
Damage level: Medium

What is Search Voyage?

Developed by SuperWeb LLC, Search Voyage is a dubious application that supposedly improves the web search experience - "With many scenic backgrounds, its like taking a virtual voyage while you search, all without ever packing your bags!" On initial inspection, this app may seem legitimate and useful, however, Search Voyage is classed as a potentially unwanted program (PUP) and adware.

One of the main reasons for these negative associations is stealth installation - Search Voyage often infiltrates systems without users’ consent. Following successful infiltration, Search Voyage generates intrusive advertisements, causes unwanted browser redirects, and tracks users' web browsing activity.

Search Voyage adware

Search Voyage employs a 'virtual layer' to generate pop-up, interstitial, transitional, full-page, banner, coupon, search, price comparison, and other similar intrusive online advertisements. None originate from users' visited websites and often conceal underlying content. In addition, this program continually redirects users to searchvoyage.com without users' consent.

Display of intrusive advertisements with continual unwanted browser redirects significantly diminishes the web browsing experience. Furthermore, ads delivered by this PUP often lead to malicious websites - clicking them risks further adware or malware infections.

Be aware that Search Voyage continually collects Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, unique identifier numbers, websites visited, pages viewed, search queries, and other similar information relating to users' web browsing activity.

This data may seem insignificant, however, it will contain personally identifiable details that SuperWeb LLC shares with third parties (who misuse private data to generate revenue). This behavior can lead to serious privacy issues or even identity theft. For these reasons, we strongly advise that you uninstall Search Voyage adware immediately.

Search Voyage Privacy Policy statement regarding data collection:

We only share or sell your non-public personal information with non-affiliated third parties when we believe doing so is permitted by you or authorized by this Privacy Policy. In addition, the Company may share your personal information with our parent, subsidiary or affiliate companies without restriction.

SuperWeb LLC has released hundreds of identical potentially unwanted programs including Search Know, Monarimo, and Steel Cut - these are just some examples from a long list of identical apps. All claim to enhance the web browsing experience, however, none provide any significant value for users.

Applications belonging to SuperWeb LLC are designed only to generate revenue for the developers - they merely generate intrusive online advertisements, collect private data, and often cause unwanted browser redirects.

How did Search Voyage install on my computer?

Search Voyage is free for anyone to download on its official download website, however, developers also promote this application using a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' - stealth installation of potentially unwanted programs with regular software/apps.

Hiding PUPs within the 'Custom/Advanced' settings of download or installation processes is popular, since users often do not pay enough attention during these procedures. By skipping these settings, users often install dubious third party software inadvertently.

How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?

There are two main steps you should take to prevent this situation. Firstly, never rush when downloading and installing software - select the 'Custom/Advanced' settings and closely analyze each step. Secondly, decline all offers to download or install additional software and opt-out of those already included.
