WizzAppChecker Adware

What is WizzAppChecker?

Created by the developers of WizzWifi Hotspot and WizzScreen, WizzAppChecker is a dubious application that supposedly warns users when any malicious software is installed - "WizzAppChecker - Protect your computer from malware and get our warning notifications".

Initially, this functionality may seem legitimate and useful, however, WizzAppChecker is designed to infiltrate systems without users’ permission. In addition, this dubious application continually monitors users' web browsing activity and generates intrusive online ads. For these reasons, WizzAppChecker is classed as a potentially unwanted program (PUP) and adware.

Manamecrypt Ransomware

What is Manamecrypt?

Manamecrypt is ransomware that supposedly encrypts various file types (for example, .jpeg, .psd, .mp4, etc.) stored on victims' computers. Once the compromised files are encrypted, a ransom is demanded to restore them. If the ransom is not paid within the given time frame, the files are supposedly deleted.

Chromatic Adware

What is Chromatic?

The Chromatic application claims to provide users with a safer Internet browsing environment. The developers distribute this application using a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling', which allows them to install Chromatic without users' consent.

Bundling is stealth installation of additional applications together with regular software, and therefore, users often inadvertently install this app together with free software downloaded from freeware download websites. After system infiltration, Chromatic assigns itself as the default Internet browser.

Furthermore, this application displays third party advertisements that may redirect to untrusted websites, thereby causing adware or malware infections.

DustApps Ads

What is DustApps?

DustApps is a deceptive application claiming to improve users' Internet search experience by delivering the most relevant results - "DustApp software adds helpful content and tools to enrich the results of your internet searches."

This feature might trick some users into believing that DustApps is a legitimate and useful app, however, be aware that this application generates intrusive online advertisements and tracks Internet browsing activity. Thus, it is categorized as a potentially unwanted adware-type program (PUP) that infiltrates systems without users’ permission.

Ads by Newer Version

What is Newer Version?

Developed by SuperWeb LLC, Newer Version is a potentially unwanted program (PUP) claiming to improve the Internet browsing experience by enabling coupons, comparison shopping, and other similar features.

On initial inspection, some users may find this browser add-on legitimate and useful, however, Newer Version is classed as adware since it employs a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling' (stealth installation of additional programs together with the chosen software) to install on Internet browsers without users' consent.

After infiltration on Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox, Newer Version generates various intrusive online advertisements including search, interstitial, transitional, pop-up, banner, and full-page ads. Clicking advertisements generated by Newer Version exposes your computer to risk of infection, since these ads often redirect to bogus websites containing infectious content.

WizzWifi Hotspot Adware

What is WizzWifi Hotspot?

Created by developers of WizzScreen, WizzWifi Hotspot is a potentially unwanted program (PUP) that supposedly allows users to create a WiFi hotspot - "Wifi Hotspot - Share your connection with your friend on one click and transform your computer on a wifi hotspot." On initial inspection, this application may seem legitimate and useful, however, claims to provide 'valuable functions' are merely attempts to trick users to install.

In fact, WizzWifi Hotspot is classed as adware. One of the main reasons for these negative associations is stealth installation without users' consent. Following successful infiltration, WizzWifi Hotspot collects various information and continually generates intrusive online advertisements.
