Fasttoaccess.com Redirect

Also Known As: fasttoaccess.com browser hijacker
Damage level: Medium

What is fasttoaccess.com?

fasttoaccess.com is a regular fake Internet search engine claiming to improve users' web browsing experience by generating improved search results and providing quick access to a number of popular websites.

These false claims often trick users into believing that fasttoaccess.com is a legitimate website, however, it records various information relating to browsing activity. In addition, this website is promoted using rogue software 'installers' that hijack Internet browsers.

fasttoaccess.com browser hijacker

Deceptive installers infiltrate Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox, assigning the new tab URL, homepage, and default search engine options to fasttoaccess.com. Browser shortcuts are then modified - installers append the same URL to the target of each shortcut.

This is performed without consent. Furthermore, users are unable to revert these changes, since the selected software is delivered with a number of "helper objects" - third party applications/browser plug-ins designed to reassign settings when attempts are made to change them.

Thus, it becomes impossible to return browsers to their previous states and users are forced to continually visit fasttoaccess.com website without their consent, diminishing the web browsing experience. In addition, fasttoaccess.com (and helper objects) gathers various information relating to users' web browsing activity.

Many users are unaware that URLs visited, search queries, pages viewed, IP addresses, and other similar recorded data might contain private details that are shared with third parties. Private information is misused to generate revenue and, thus, data tracking can lead to serious privacy issues or even identity theft.

If you encounter unwanted browser redirects to fasttoacecss.com, uninstall all suspicious applications and browser plug-ins, and avoid visiting this website again.

Research shows that the Internet is full of fake search engines similar to fasttoaccess.com. Examples include greenet.xyz, search-armor.com, securesurf.biz, and thesearch.net. Fake search engines give dubious promises to enhance the web browsing experience - this, with the intention of giving the impression of legitimacy.

In fact, these claims are false, since websites such as fasttoaccess.com are designed only to generate revenue for the developers.

Rather than providing any significant value for regular users, they cause unwanted browser redirects, gather private information, and deliver intrusive advertisements. Note that some fake search engines generate results leading to malicious websites - using them can lead to further high-risk adware or malware infections.

How did fasttoaccess.com install on my computer?

This rogue site is promoted using a deceptive marketing method called "bundling". Developers know that most users do not express enough caution during the download/installation processes. Therefore, information regarding modification of browser settings is hidden within the "Custom/Advanced" section of these processes.

By skipping this section, users grant set-ups permission to modify various options, and expose their system to risk of various infections.

How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?

To prevent this situation, be very cautious during the download/installation processes. Analyze each step using the "Custom" or "Advanced" settings. Furthermore, decline all offers to download/install third party applications and never allow set-ups to modify options irrelevant to the installation.
