Liveadexchanger.com Ads

Also Known As: liveadexchanger.com pop-up ads
Type: Adware

What is liveadexchanger.com?

liveadechanger.com is an advertising network used by a number of potentially unwanted programs (PUPs). By offering various 'useful features', PUPs attempt to give the impression of legitimacy, however, these rogue adware-type applications often infiltrate systems without users' consent.

Furthermore, they continually deliver intrusive online advertisements and gather various information relating to Internet browsing activity.

Following infiltration, PUPs employ a 'virtual layer' to generate pop-up, coupon, banner, and other similar ads. The 'virtual layer' enables placement of third party graphical content on any site. The resultant displayed ads often conceal underlying web content, significantly diminishing the Internet browsing experience.

When clicked, they redirect to liveadexchanger.com, which then redirects to various other websites (depending on the ad clicked). These websites might contain malicious content - clicking them is risky and can result in further adware or malware infections.

PUPs continually record IP addresses, search queries, URLs visited, pages viewed, and other similar data that might be personally identifiable. In addition, developers share these details with third parties (potentially, cyber criminals) who misuse personal data to generate revenue.

Thus, the presence of an information-tracking app on your system can result in serious privacy issues or even identity theft. All potentially unwanted programs must be uninstalled immediately.

The Internet is full of adware-type applications, all of which are virtually identical. By offering a variety of 'useful features', apps such as ContentPush, SavingsCool, Trezaa, and many others, create the impression of being legitimate. Be aware, however, that PUPs are designed only to generate revenue for the developers, whilst regular users receive no significant value.

Potentially unwanted programs merely deliver intrusive online advertisements (via the "Pay Per Click" [PPC] advertising model) and collect personal information (which is later sold to third parties).

How did adware install on my computer?

Developers proliferate potentially unwanted programs by employing a deceptive marketing method called "bundling" - stealth installation of third party applications with regular software. Developers know that users often rush the download/installation processes and skip most steps.

Therefore, all bundled applications are hidden within the "Custom/Advanced" settings of these procedures. Skipping this section often leads to inadvertent installation of potentially unwanted programs.

How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?

There are two simple steps you should take to prevent this situation. Firstly, never rush when downloading and installing software. Select the "Custom/Advanced" setting and closely analyze each step. Secondly, decline offers to download/install additional applications and cancel those already included. The key to computer safety is caution.
