What is hp.myway.com?

Gifables is a deceptive application that falsely claims to provide access to hundreds of various GIF images. On initial inspection, Gifables may appear legitimate and useful, however, this app often infiltrates systems without consent. In addition, it stealthily modifies web browser settings and continually records information relating to users' Internet browsing activity. For these reasons, Gifables is categorized as a potentially unwanted program (PUP) and a browser hijacker.

hp.myway.com browser hijacker

Following successful infiltration, Gifables hijacks Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox, stealthily modifying the new tab URL, default search engine, and homepage options by assigning them to hp.myway.com. These changes may seem insignificant, however, users are unable to revert them - Gifables reassigns the aforementioned settings when attempts are made to change them. Therefore, users are unable to return browsers to their previous states and users continually encounter unwanted redirects to hp.myway.com. This significantly diminishes the web browsing experience. Another downside is information tracking. Gifables records various user-system information relating to Internet browsing activity. The list of collected data types includes (but is not limited to) Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, website URLs visited, pages viewed, and search queries. This data might contain personal details that Mindspark Interactive Network (developers of Gifables) shares with third parties (potentially, cyber criminals) who misuse private information to generate revenue. Therefore, the presence of a data-tracking app can lead to serious privacy issues or even identity theft. We strongly advise you to uninstall the Gifables browser hijacker immediately.

Mindspark Interactive Network has released dozens of browser-hijacking applications identical to Gifables. Although OnlineWorkSuite, ActionClassicGames, HowToSuite, and other Mindspark Interactive Network products offer different functionality, all have identical behavior. By offering various 'useful features', these applications attempt to give the impression of legitimacy, however, their only purpose is to generate revenue for the developers, whilst regular users receive no value. Applications such as Gifables merely cause unwanted redirects and record various user-system information.

How did Gifables install on my computer?

Developers promote Gifables by employing various download/installation set-ups that hijack web browsers and stealthily modify various options. Developers know that users often rush the download/installation processes and skip steps. Aware of this, developers hide bundled apps within the "Custom" or "Advanced" settings. Skipping this section often leads to inadvertent installation of rogue applications such as Gifables.

How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?

To prevent this situation, be very cautious during the download and installation processes. Closely analyze each step using the "Custom" or "Advanced" settings, decline offers to download/install additional applications, and cancel those already included. The key to computer safety is caution.
