ShareWithUs removal instructions
What is ShareWithUs?
ShareWithUs is a deceptive application that stealthily infiltrates systems during installation of other programs (the "bundling" method). Following infiltration, this app generates various intrusive online advertisements and continually records information relating to users' Internet browsing activity. For these reasons, ShareWithUs is categorized as adware and a potentially unwanted program (PUP).
To deliver pop-up, coupon, banner, and other similar advertisements, ShareWithUs employs a "virtual layer" - a tool that enables placement of third party graphical content on any site. Therefore, displayed advertisements often conceal underlying content of visited websites. In addition, some might redirect to malicious websites and even accidental clicks can result in high-risk adware or malware infections. Another downside is information tracking. Be aware that ShareWithUs collects Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, website URLs visited, pages viewed, queries entered into search engines, and other similar data that might contain personal details. This information is later shared with third parties (potentially, cyber criminals) who misuse it to generate revenue. Therefore, the presence of a data-tracking application such as ShareWithUs can lead to serious privacy issues or even identity theft. You are strongly advised to uninstall this PUP immediately.
The Internet is full of adware-type applications similar to ShareWithUs including Navigate Pro, WiseFolderLock, and Tools Plus - these are just some examples from many. Note that all of these apps offer different functions, however, they have identical behavior. The only purpose of all adware is to generate revenue for the developers, whilst regular users receive no value. Potentially unwanted programs such as ShareWithUs merely deliver intrusive advertisements (via the "Pay Per Click" advertising model) and continually record various user-system information (which is later sold to third parties).
How did ShareWithUs install on my computer?
As mentioned above, ShareWithUs is distributed using a deceptive marketing method called "bundling" - stealth installation of third party applications with regular software/apps. Therefore, many users install ShareWithUs inadvertently without their consent, since developers know that users often rush download/installation processes and skip steps - they hide bundled applications within the "Custom/Advanced" settings of these procedures. Skipping this section often leads to inadvertent installation of PUPs such as ShareWithUs.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
There are two simple steps you should take to prevent this situation. Firstly, never rush when downloading and installing software. Select the "Custom/Advanced" settings and carefully analyze each step. Secondly, decline offers to download/install additional applications and cancel those already included.
