TigerTrade Adware

Also Known As: Ads by TigerTrade
Type: Adware
Damage level: Medium

What is TigerTrade?

TigerTrade is presented as a legitimate trading platform. Judging on appearance alone, this app may seem legitimate and useful, however, TigerTrade is categorized as a potentially unwanted application and adware.

There are three main reasons for these negative associations: 1) installation without users' permission; 2) display of intrusive advertisements, and; 3) information tracking.

TigerTrade adware

This adware delivers coupon, banner, pop-up, and other similar intrusive advertisements. To achieve this, developers employ various tools that enable placement of third party graphical content on any site. Therefore, they often conceal underlying content, thereby significantly diminishing the browsing experience.

Furthermore, these ads might lead to malicious websites or execute scripts that download and install other potentially unwanted applications (or even high-risk malware). Clicking them is risky and can result in further computer infections. Furthermore, TigerTrade records information relating to browsing habits.

Internet Protocol (IP), website URLs visited, pages viewed, search queries, and other collected information usually includes personal details that developers share with third parties (potentially, cyber criminals). These people generate revenue by misusing personal data.

Therefore, the presence of an information-tracking app such as TigerTrade can lead to serious privacy issues or even identity theft. You are advised to eliminate this adware immediately.

The Internet is full of adware-type applications that share similarities with TigerTrade including Torrent Extension, HidenGate, and Amazon Shopping Assistant - these are just some examples from many. Note that all offer useful functionality, but this is merely an attempt to give the impression of legitimacy.

The only purpose of all PUAs is to generate revenue for the developers. Rather than enabling the functions promised, these applications deliver intrusive advertisements and gather sensitive information, thereby posing a direct threat to your privacy and web browsing safety.

How did TigerTrade install on my computer?

TigerTrade is free for anyone to download on its official website, however, as mentioned above, this app often infiltrates systems without permission, since developers proliferate it using intrusive advertising and "bundling" methods. "Bundling" is stealth installation of third party apps together with regular software.

Developers hide "bundled" apps within "Custom/Advanced" settings (or other sections) of the download/installation processes - they do not disclose this information properly.

Furthermore, many users are likely to click advertisements and skip download/installation processes. In doing so, they expose their systems to risk of various infections and compromise their privacy.

How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?

Potentially unwanted applications typically infiltrate systems due to the lack of knowledge and careless behavior of many users. Therefore, to prevent this situation, be very cautious when downloading/installing software and browsing the Internet. Select "Custom/Advanced" settings and carefully analyze each window of the download/installation processes.

During the process, opt-out of additionally-included programs and decline offers to download/install them. You are also advised to avoid using third party downloaders/installers, since these tools are very likely to promote rogue apps. Software should be downloaded from official sources, using direct download links.

Note that developers invest many resources into intrusive ad design and they may seem legitimate, but these ads usually lead to dubious websites (gambling, pornography, adult dating, etc.). If you continually see these ads, immediately remove all suspicious applications and browser plug-ins.

The key to computer safety is caution. If your computer is already infected with TigerTrade, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate this adware.
