TV Chrome Adware
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is TV Chrome?
TV Chrome that supposedly allows users to watch thousands of TV channels. According to its developers, this app is powered by the largest and most up-to-date database. Even if it seems legitimate and useful, TV Chrome is categorized as potentially unwanted, adware-type application (PUA).
TV Chrome is installed without users' knowledge, delivers advertisements, collects data, and promotes so-called "premium services" (such as FilmOn).
When installed, the TV Chrome app regularly deploys intrusive advertisements (coupons, banners, surveys, pop-ups, etc.) that are displayed using tools that enable placement of third party graphical content on any site and conceal underlying content.
These ads are annoying, and when clicked, redirect users to other untrustworthy sites, or run scripts that download and install other potentially unwanted applications (PUAs). Therefore, systems might be forced to have even more PUAs installed or they are infiltrated by high-risk computer infections.
Another downside of TB Chrome is that it collects data, including IP addresses, geo-locations, keystrokes, search queries, and URLs of visited websites. Also, personal/sensitive details. Later, these details are shared with third parties (potentially cyber criminals) who misuse private information to generate revenue.
These actions can lead to privacy or browsing safety issues, and some users could even end up having their identities stolen. We strongly recommend that you uninstall TV Chrome immediately.

The Internet is full of adware-type applications (including, for example, DPower, Facebook AdBlocker, AppMaster, etc.) that offer supposedly 'useful features'. In fact, their purpose is to generate revenue by delivering ads and collecting (and sharing) data. Most do not provide the functions promised or give any other real value. It is more likely that these apps will cause privacy issues or even more serious problems.
How did TV Chrome install on my computer?
Although TV Chrome can be downloaded from its official website, most users install this type of application unintentionally - through intrusive ads that are capable of executing certain scripts that download and install PUAs, or when software developers 'bundle' them with other third party software.
Developers often trick users into installing these potentially unwanted applications by not disclosing installation information, and hiding them in "Custom", "Advanced" and other similar parts of the installation processes. Furthermore, many users skip installation steps without studying the details. This is how TV Chrome and other dubious apps are installed without users' knowledge.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
Use official and trustworthy sources, and direct links when downloading software. Do not use third party software downloaders, torrents, or other similar sources to download software. Do not rush any installation without first checking all available "Custom", "Advanced" and other similar options/settings.
Opt-out of all additionally-included applications that you do not want to install, and only then finish the installation. Furthermore, avoid clicking intrusive ads, especially when visiting untrustworthy websites. These ads often seem legitimate and even tempting, but many lead to untrustworthy websites (such as gambling, pornography, adult dating, and so on).
If you encounter ads that redirect you to such websites, check your browser for unknown/unwanted installed software (extensions, plug-ins, and add-ons) and remove it. If your computer is already infected with TV Chrome, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate this adware.
