Zippnewsupdate.info redirect removal instructions
What is zippnewsupdate.info?
zippnewsupdate.info is one of many rogue websites (similar or identical to mysuperapps.online, newstarads.com, redirectal.com, and many more) designed to cause redirects to other untrustworthy sites. Most users visit zippnewsupdate.info unintentionally - they are redirected by potentially unwanted applications (PUAs). These apps are installed without users' consent, deliver advertisements, and collect data.
When a potentially unwanted application is installed, it forces browsers to open a new tab or window and redirects users to zippnewsupdate.info, which then redirects to even more (about two or three) untrustworthy websites. It is very likely that one of these websites will contain malicious content that might infiltrate systems with high-risk infections. As mentioned, PUAs usually deliver intrusive advertisements - banners, coupons, surveys etc. that are displayed using tools that enable placement of third party content on any site, and usually conceal underlying content. They are annoying and, once clicked, redirect to untrustworthy websites, and might even run scripts that download other PUAs. Furthermore, some PUAs gather and share data: IP addresses, keystrokes, geo-locations, URLs of visited websites, search queries, and so on. PUA developers share this data with third parties (potentially, cyber criminals) who misuse it to generate revenue. The collected data might also include sensitive or personal information. If these details fall into the wrong hands, you could have privacy or browsing safety problems. Some users might even have their identities stolen. Some PUAs can also run background processes (such as cryptocurrency mining) that might affect computer performance. We strongly recommend that you uninstall all PUAs immediately.
PUAs supposedly provide various features, but they are essentially identical and share the same purpose: to generate revenue for the developers. They provide none of the functionality promised and generate this revenue by gathering data, causing unwanted redirects, and delivering ads. Furthermore, having PUAs installed risks various privacy and browsing safety issues.
How did adware install on my computer?
Most users install PUAs inadvertently. Many applications of this type have official websites, but they are more commonly installed with regular software. Software developers use a deceptive marketing method called "bundling" - stealth installation of various PUAs with regular software. To trick users into installing PUAs, they hide them in "Advanced", "Custom" and other similar settings of the installation processes. Software developers do not disclose information regarding these additional applications and many users (who tend to install software without checking settings) allow PUAs to be installed without their knowledge.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
Download software using official and trustworthy sources and direct links. Do not use torrents, third party downloaders, or other similar programs as sources to download software. Carefully analyze each installation dialog window (installation step) and check "Custom", "Advanced", and other similar settings. Deselect all additional software that you do not wish to install. The internet is full of ads, but not all are legitimate, especially those displayed on untrustworthy websites. Some intrusive ads lead to gambling, pornography, adult dating, and other suspicious websites. If you encounter these ads, we recommend that you check the list of installed applications immediately. Locate any unwanted/unknown applications (extensions, add-ons, plug-ins) installed on your browser and remove them immediately. Also check the list of installed programs on your computer. If your computer is already infected with rogue applications, we recommend running a scan with Spyhunter for Windows to automatically eliminate them.
